I'm sorry are you in the legal field AT ALL? I never claimed to be in the legal field. LawDragon is highly respected It may be highly respected and those 29 lawyers sure do make a name for scUM but did they help the 23% of scUM students who didn't pass the bar exam in the last sitting. Those 29 lawyers I'm sure are excellent in their field, and that is regardless of what school they attended. School does not equal success nor intelligence. That's why that survey, and resulting ranking, is total bs. FIU isn't comparable to UM in the legal field in any way, shape, or form minus 1 bar passage rate which is flawed to begin with if you look at the number of UM students who took the bar and the number of FIU students who took the bar, much less it doesn't account for the bar passage rates for students at UM who take the bar at their HOME state, unlike FIU which about 99% take it in Florida. UM - 26; FIU - 18. You're right, that is a huge difference, no wonder the %'s are so far apart (94% vs 77%) - I'm sure a keen lawyer such as yourself can sense sarcasm - and you're implying that just Florida scUM lawyers are weak, good to know. Regardless this is the football board, you are more than welcome to continue to debate this "boring topic" over private messages with me if you'd like I'd much rather continue this conversation in the tiolet bowl parking lot on 9/15. We can talk all about rankings and polls, and how you climb polls, all afternoon. Don't worry, I'll have an O'douls there for ya.

I'm willing to bet money Miami is better next year. I'd bet my house against yours, but I wouldn't want to take your trailer away. It's tough talk bashing UM considering FIU's results. Fiufootballer, you are more than welcome to keep the O'douls for yourself and come to our tailgate while we slam car bombs, play beer pong, and have our BBQ's. But don't pull out one statistic and neglect the other ones that go against your facts, apply them all despite how many holes it pokes through your arguments.

9-15-07........FIU 21 UCG 17........before 70,000 at the OB, about an even 50/50 split between the schools.......14 - 14 at the half.........start of the 3rd quarter our Alumni wearing scUM Orange and Green shockingly begin to cheer for FIU as they take the field.........They see history about to happen and cannot help but root for their alma mater. The closing seconds tick away and 50,000 FIU fans storm the field at the OB. Football in Miami changed forever. As far fetched as this sounds for the scUM posters at GPP or on this board. The POINT is this....When it does happen and ooooohh do I have a strong suspicion that it will, because there is no agreement to continue the games beyond 2007....This might be our ONLY chance in the near term to defeat them on their turf and change the entire perception of FIU in general. A win no matter how close of a game will have lasting affects on support in many forms. Recruiting, donations, media and ticket sales for our program.
I hope someone from the staff reads this to the team and posts it for the players to READ. They must see this VISION and realize that 4 quarters of football against the U on 9/15/07 can mean so much......Take a moment and think how AWESOME it would be for us to shock the football world. Pete and Mario did not come here to lose......I trust that this team will be ready to make a statement at the OB in front of a packed house on Sept. 15th.

Guy,
I have said that I was going to ignore all of the disrespect and the horrible remarks that have been made by you and some of your fellow UCG supporters both here and on the GPP blogs, but I have held my tongue for far too long now. Some of your postings have beckoned me to break my silence.
First of all, and I want to make sure that this is as clear as I can make it, not all of our players wanted to go to Miami. Not all of our players are rejects from the other teams in the state. Not all of our players are at FIU because they had no other place to go. Whether you realize it or not, Miami is not the end-all-be-all of college football.
Secondly, you and others seem to want to belittle the accomplishments of our guys who are getting an opportunity to play at the next level. There have been several comparisons made to us and Miami's long history of success in the NFL draft. But, as I am sure you have forgotten, Miami did not come out of the womb scoring touchdowns in the NFL. At one point the Hurricanes were in their infancy, and it is a known fact that you have to crawl before you can walk. There was a time when Miami had their first taste of draft day success. We got the chance to have that this weekend, and the fact that Miami had 1 or 3 or 500 first round draft picks does not in any way lessen our players' successes.
Thirdly, you want to make snide remarks about our impending scholarship losses. Unless a school has had a totally clean record with the NCAA no school can look down their nose at us for our situation, and I do not believe that Miami is squeaking from cleanliness.
Finally, I had thought that your had become one of the more decent persons on this board. Your postings had become entertaining, intellectual, insightful, and supportive. But you have certainly gone astray with your cruel statements about FIU. Yeah, some of our people have had some pretty bad things to say about UCG, but this is our board. We have this board in place to make comments about our rival schools and support our own. If you want to bash us you have every right to do so, but do it on your own board and not ours. If UCG is the mecca you make it out to be, there should be plenty to do there to keep you occupied.
I am done with this subject.

Mom,
At what point did I state that all FIU players wanted to go to Miami? At what point did I imply it? Some of us don't even know what the FIU players really wanted, despite what they say? It could be safe to say that the majority of them might have wanted to or not, but it's also safe to say Miami didn't want any of them so it renders it moot. Same way Miami has players that other schools didn't want and USC has players other schools didn't want, etc. When I was offered my scholarship for hockey I faced the facts and said "well I can go to a crappy program, get a free education, rehab my knee in the process and maybe I'll break into the NHL", instead I realized since I wasn't offered by top programs such as BC, Michigan, etc that maybe my talent level wasn't up there and I should concentrate on what I really wanted to do anyway and go to college near home since it wasn't going to cost me anything. On the flip side that doesn't mean FIU doesn't have good players either, see Boise State for example, but on a general basis it's safe to draw conclusions out of it.
Secondly, where did I belittle the accomplishments any of the players have made in the recent draft class? Please, scour my recent posts and bring up one, just one, where I hinted towards saying they suck, or will be cut, or won't make the team, etc. I hope all of them make the team and contribute and if they don't, that's fine there are other opportunities available to them, just like Randy Shannon was cut after starting for the Cowboys.
Third, I'm not making any snide remarks about the scholarships. They are an impending doom and they apply to 11 other programs as well this year (it could be 10, but it's one of the two). That's no knock on the program, UM has had it's much publicized problems with probation and scholarship loss, just like UF did in the 80's, Bama, Oklahoma, etc. It sucks that FIU is losing those scholarships but to think it won't impact recruiting is narrow sighted. Frankly the person I feel sorry for the most is Mario because I was anxious to see what he can do but now he'll be more handcuffed than he was before.
Finally, in no way do I think cruelly of FIU. Did I enjoy my time there? Meh, it was a commuter school and that's basically what defines it so I guess you get out of it what you put into it, which I didn't put much into it because it didn't really garner my interest. And that's with my best friends being in frats and sororities and others being gainfully employed there, etc. Did I enjoy my time at UM? It's safe to say I did, but it wasn't some epic adventure. I enjoyed it more because it was smaller in class size, better situated for me, a private school and I fit in best. That's akin as to how other students feel that they fit in better at FIU. But the last thing I do is hate FIU. I really didn't mind my time there and I'm grateful that I was able to get out of it what I needed and I moved on and contribute whenever I can, I still talk to Modesto whenever he comes into my office and we discuss only the good parts about FIU and all the improvements that it has undergone and has yet to undergo, but the vitriol that some people spew out over UM here screams of an inferiority complex and as a former alum I don't know why FIU would want to compare itself to UM athletically, it's apples and oranges. It's as if any chance someone gets here they bash UM because of what? A stupid fight that they didn't even start? Hell even on the UM board the one time every 6 months FIU comes up and somebody starts spewing stuff out of their rear ends I call them out on it and others do as well but here it's more of a mob mentality with no real concrete reason as to why. Just looking to see where your accusations of me are founded in facts.....

That was a nice response by mom...deserving of Mario's.. ;D. However, I believe it should be geared more to the new UCG flamer on the GPP blog than to itsthatguy, this time.
BTW, this is the second time FIU's law class (with comparable number of exam takers) have surpassed UM students' passing rate, not the first, as erroneously posted here.
Nicer post at the beginning, guy, but not that at the end. For you to say they only talk about FIU on any UM board only once every 6 months is just not true and misleading. The game that has caused the "hatred" from BOTH sides, happened just over 6 months now...there has been plenty of vitriolic talk against FIU in UM's board since. Actually, there is one thread Yesterday talking about Mario and stuff, and how bad FIU is, and how a bad decision it was for him..yadadyadda...
I've read, and you know it since I've told you before, where at least one poster there wished FIU be bombed, along with "their scumbag fans", etc. etc....you didn't call him out on that. Some of the posters there, not long ago, ranked the team (and fans) they hate the most and...you got it...FIU was on many of the posters' ruthless words....So, please, don't come here justifying your side of the coin with inacurracies or half truths, when you know both sides have their "haters" and "mob mentality" posters. I know that...I've been "mobbed" over there for no apparent reason, other than my being a fan of FIU.
Some of the posters there acknowledge that FIU "is out to destroy UM's fan base" or something along those lines...he (and others there) knows, or thinks he knows, that FIU can make a dent in UM's following if it becomes successful, precisely due to FIU's size and local ties as compared to UM's....he openly says he hates FIU and hopes Cristobal iand Pete Garcia are a disaster here...that my friend, is far from the roses-filled board you are trying to describe here. Does that reeks of "superiority complex", then?...I don't know.
However, you do bring some very good points, and make a lot of sense in them. If you could leave out some comments in your posts, you would not receive so many vitriolic answers from people here, I suspect.

Dude chill out !!! Go back and review the tax code or something ?? No one is comparing FIU to UM.....OK !!! Go to the Marshall board and stir things up over there. Oh I forgot, that's a real football program, you wouldn't want to get them angry.....They might just come down here and embarrass you in front of 35,000 die hards. Listen, we went 0 -12....Big DEAL. TDAOS. We coming to smash Kyle or Kirby into the dirt on the first series. Ohhhh, we don't forget who's a marked man either.....Mr. Leggett better hit the weight room this summer. Because when his number is called on a post pattern down and between the hashes....Ohhh I just want Mr. Kent Henderson to lay him out and tell him "Those Days Are Over Son."

Now, seriously. I don't expect (hope, too) nothing remotely close to what happened on the field last year happens this time around. With MC and Shannon at the helms, I just don't see it happening. Sure, it will be hard fought, with plenty of emotion, given what happened last season. UM will come to play, too, and that won't be good for us, I'm afraid.....

UM will come to play, too, and that won't be good for us, I'm afraid..... If you think scUM didn't come out to play last year, you weren't seeing the same game I was before the fight. When emotions are involved, all game rationalizations and predictions go out the window, and one thing that will not be missing on 9/15 is emotion. scUMheads can say whatever they want about the FIU game being meaningless but deep down they know it's a big game but don't want to admit it because FIU nationally is not seen as a "real" opponent but lose to us and locally you are, well, scUM.

Not talking about a brawl OK. But a clean hit on wide out looking to catch the ball. Oh, I forgot not any WR but a PUNK. What goes around comes around....Just the thought of guys looking for him this year, after his sucka punch on Ned. Lance will have a severe case of "Alligator Arms" when the ball is thrown in his direction. LOVE IT.
