i went to our beloved Golden Panther Prowl blog today and i have to say i was really pissed off. instead of celebrating our guys' accomplishments we are having to defend ourselves. this is ridiculous. i dont want to log on and see some stupid people (which i can assume are about 12 years old) saying that we are lower than high school football and so forth. I ask that you ignore them and let them talk. What do they know?!! Those UM people are hating. They are haters. You know why people hate? They hate because they are jealous. they cant stand the fact that FIU is climbing up the ladder and that no longer will random people wear UM gear. no longer will bandwagoners wear UM gear. Now we will see FIU gear. I saw two different customers wearing FIU polos at work. Thats two more people than i have ever seen. Forget these people and lets go back to posting on our teams' and players' accomplishments.

That's what I have been saying also. If we just pretend like the comments are not there, and not post any response to them, he will eventually go away.

Ignore the fool..........My company has a bunch of canes season tix at the OB and last year we sat near some players parents. They were impressed with the effort FIU gave in the first half and had nothing but praise for our young program. A parent of a UM o-lineman, admitted ignorance of the FIU program but recognized that after only 5 years and situated in South Florida we could only improve. I wonder if that poster would tell Coach Shannon that his son is playing at a Pop Warner level school ?? I doubt it......UM is fun to watch, love or hate 'em...But I know one thing - The West End Zone low class clowns that call themselves canes fans would be ridiculed by the canes alumns that sit near my company's season tix seats. Educated and classy people don't go out of their way to try spew hate....Only the ignorant and threatened act this way out of desperation.....So please ingore the posts on GPP. ***Pete can you try and get some better images of the NEW CAGE for us...Thanks.

Most UCG fans couldn't even find the campus. They are treated as another "pro" team in this town. As such, their attendance sucks when compared to other major programs, they don't travel as well as any school, etc. So let them talk, UCG fans are good at it. Their alumni however are another matter. They're usually pretty classy and know what they're talking about. Then again, a college education tends to bring that out of people.

fiupike,
Does your company have season tickets for FIU? Perhaps you could convince them to purchase some if they do not.

The University of Coral Gables.Let me begin by saying this. All of there fans are pop warner coaches who blame everything on Kyle Wright and really have no clue, like the rest of S.Fla sports fans. They do not know much about football and the main reason they go to the games is the atmospehere. Most of there fans can not even tell you what an Offensive Guard is or how to spell Miami in ENGLISH.They are the dumbest fans in sports as well since most if not all are rooting for a team that they did not even gradute from.LOL. Look around the country you do not see people that graduated from Georgia Tech rooting for Georgia. They all call your local radio shows and sound like fools because they really do not know how to play football.Ask them were they were at in 96 when the "u whos" were playing rutgers in the OB? or how about that 5-6 season? What about when they would play temple? No one showed up because they are not football fans.

Too bad, that one fan is spoiling the fun of visiting such a nice blog by Pete Pelegrin. I think what Pelegrin is doing is just great...not just as an FIU fan, but a very entertaining and insightful placea for us FIU fans....and yes, even non-FIU fans, to visit, read, and comment in a (hopefully) respectful and moderate way. Of course, some of these ignorant brats, come in and try to impose....
I'm gonna try and ignore the child, as he believes now he is important. However, the blogs by Pete are just very good...visit them.

Too bad, that one fan is spoiling the fun of visiting such a nice blog by Pete Pelegrin. Let's not get carried away with the impact these scUMs have. This is all part of college football. We're just used to being in our own little world where every other college football team and their fans barely even know we exist. But now we're starting to grow and other team's fans will start taking notice and start taking jabs. Now it's scUM/FAU/USF fans that come to our blogs and boards and want to talk some smack, one day it'll be UF or FSU as well. The point is, smack talk and college football is inseperable, take it for what it's worth and have a little fun yourselves.

However I am working with the team and the AD in another capacity to help in other ways...I will keep you posted......Either way, I have a group of 10 people interested in club seats at the NEW cage. Hope others on this board can jump on the wagon too !!

I got to agree with some of the points made on this thread but some of them are way off base. FIU should be proud of what they've accomplished thus far and this weekend was a good weekend for them. I haven't really been able to see what that kid is saying on the blog but just take it with a grain of salt. As a UM fan, we have our good and our bad, same way every school has their good and bad and you have to take it all in stride because that's part of college football. Every time I read a post here bashing UM I take it as flattery because bigger and better have taken shots and they haven't knocked us down and those who continue to do so won't. I just really don't know why so many people on this board hate UM or their players, chalk it up to hate or whatever it could be but for all the schools that have traditional rivalries with UM like FSU and UF you don't see half as many topics on their boards about UM so I draw my own conclusions from that.
The reason most alums don't go to the UM games is because UM has a policy of pretty much accepting students out of Miami, generally speaking. The majority of our alums are from the northeast, like my father who spent sometime there before moving to Miami and going to school there.
But if you're going to insult an entire fan base and say they don't know how to spell, you might as well know the correct use of "their" and "there" formerstudent. By the way one of my best friends went to Notre Dame and grew up in Atlanta and he roots for both the Irish and the Yellow Jackets (if FIU schedules a game with them, I suggest everyone go, G-tech and Clemson are two of the best atmospheres in college ball) so that throws your theory out the window.
I just don't know why UM is such a hot topic on this board, aside from the brawl, they are two separate entities who affect each other less than FSU affects UM and UF affects FSU. FIU should be concerning themselves with rivals they play every year such as FAU and winning some games to build up and compete in the Sunbelt and maybe another better conference one day, not concerning themselves with what one retard says on a blog of all places.

the guy above me is wrong. UM is just as much a rival to fiu as fau if not more. This was created not because of an in-conference battle for positioning but because of the fight. I believe had it not gotten so ugly on the field there would have been maybe only a quarter or UM talk on this board. The bottom line though really is that anybody who broadcasts that type of ignorance and hate(such as on gpp) from the safety and anonymity of the internet is nothing more than a coward.

I just don't know why UM is such a hot topic on this board That's simple. It's because we are gunning for you. Well, not really you, but scUM. We are not in Tallahassee or Gainesville or Middleofnowhere, Arkansas, we are right here in Miami. We are Miami. UCG has given our city a bad name for too long, couple that with the drive to knock off and overtake a once venerable program and you have the perfect recipe. Some scUMy fans are beginning to take notice of what's happening as their team relocates to Joe Robbie and we build our new stadium, as their program is left with old rags Paul Dee and Shalala and we steal your future gems PG and MC, as the stature of their program is talked about in hyperbole and past-tense and ours has no where to go but up. We're the underestimated little brother that is starting to hit his stride, and everyone can smell chum in the water. Hope that helps clarify the situation for ya.

So by implication LSU and UM should be big rivals? FSU and UF weren't rivals until they fought a few years ago? The fight was an unfortunate incident neither school is or their fans should be proud of, but it happened. If a fight is the basis for a rivalry then the games against each other should be canceled because nothing good will come out of it.
Edit: I don't see how UM has given the city a bad name, I mean out of the most prominent legal minds UM ranks #23 as the school most attended, they have a stellar medical reputation and the school isn't frowned upon.
Football wise can be the only way UM has given the city a bad name and even then we've had half of the violations and problems UF and FSU have had so that's grasping at straws.
FIU isn't going to knock off UM, hell they don't even battle after the same recruits, it's apples and oranges, UM and FSU are on equal footing as far as prestige. Well, I'm wrong, UM is above them in prestige when it comes to football and we have nothing but respect for each other. You can gun for UM all you want but FIU doesn't play in the same conference, doesn't play the same competition, and hell if you call UM UCG you can't say FIU represents Miami considering they are unincorporated Miami-Dade. FIU is also losing 9 scholarships (which I expect to be spread out 3 per year over a span of three years if it's a total of 9, but I haven't read anything aside from headlines on this) By the way, Coker is gone so you'll see the team come back up, a team that was poorly under coached offensively last year and still had 3 first round draft picks. IF UM represented such a bad name they wouldn't have so many players drafted.
UM is moving to Joe Robbie by choice, they aren't being evicted by the city remember that. It's actually a step up for UM and they are set to make a considerable larger amount of money. Isn't USF and UCF gunning for us?
