I went to my second Panther Rage meeting today and all I can say is that this one and the first meeting were two of the most unorganized meetings that I have ever attended in my life. I felt that both meetings were a BIG waste of my time. I feel like when I go into a meeting I need to have facts together in organized manner, I need to have dates and reason. I love FIU and want our school to be a serious University in every manner. During the meeting today the main presenter seemed to have A.D.D. He could not keep focus on any topic he was discussing. I counted and noticed he would either look at his phone, say "what's up" to someone, or just talk about something totally different. That in my opinion is not professional and not Golden Panther like. We need to be professional in everything we do especially Panther Rage which is a big part of this University.

I can tell you that today was the worst one that I have ever been too. Its just the fact that there is really nothing going on and plus there was free food so a lot of people were there that just wanted the food. Maybe its because fall is over and so is all of the football hype but it seems like these people that run the meetings are just there for nothing.
I don't even know why I go anymore.

I was there too. I agree it was pretty disorganized, but I think it'll get better once football comes around. It does kinda suck though. Basketball and baseball needs the support too. But oh well, Miami is a football town, so not much we can do but go to games ourselves.

You know, with the three of you there, you should make a play to get actively involved in the Panther Rage leadership and bring the sense of accountability and organization that is apparantly lacking right now.

Well, I'm new, so I can't do much right now. But in the future, I can try.

Guys, those meeting are what YOU make of them. Go into them with some ideas of your own. Look for like minded individuals there; speak off to the side with them.
During a pause ask to address the agenda. Look for points of interest that you feel may gain traction. Set up committees with like minded individuals and show you can get things done. People will then begin to gravitate toward you and your ideas.
Remember, just because they are leading, doesn't make it theirs.

There is plenty going on right now! take the Basketball games for one! As a member of the basketball band, I see what the crowds are like at roughly all the home games for both the Men's team and the women's team. It appals me how few students actually attend either event.
While I know there would be more intrest if they won or if they played some sort of major event game (like playing UM), but that is the very purpose of Panther Rage is it not? to attend the games and support the teams? Just the other day, the women's team played a game where the beginning of the game was completely empty on the FIU side. The visiting team had a contingency of roughly 20 people present, but we could not get any to show for a home game. People didn't really show up until it was almost the start time for the mens game later.
I know he crowd support does help our team. If Panther Rage could show up to games more frequently, it would mean a lot to the success of both teams and even have the potential to create a real game atmosphere.

Exactly Steve. To those on the this board who really want to get something done, don't let posers stand in the way. Take over, build a consensus. The posers will either compete (and no longer be posers) or get out of the way, and competition is good.
Another hint; a lot of people will join boards, etc., not because they care about the cause but more because it will look good on some kind of resume. Give them a little push to see where their hearts really are.

I agree, Steve. I really do wish more students will attend basketball games. It would be awesome with how loud that arena can get. It can get loud with just a little bit of people (look at the last home game, for example), imagine with the arena completely full! They have been mentioning what Panther Rage is all about at the last two meetings and I just find it pretty funny when they mention that they go to basketball games and stuff and make noise. I think I have only seen like 2 or 3 PR people there. Nothing against them really. I think they seem like a fun group. But, I wish they would go to more games like they say they do. I do have some ideas that I will write down in a notebook. I will present those ideas to the guy in charge. I am still a little shy to speak up in front of everyone.

We acually have elections in Spring for the following year. I was already a part of E-board two years ago, and I can tell you that the experience is fun. Our meetings were run pretty well and the attendance has fallen but it falls ever spring. Fall its fun, there is always a ton of people and music is playing when you come in and people just seem excited. All you need is a 2.5 gpa to be on it, you could be Historian and take pictures for all of the events.

MiRi if you become the Historian I think you will find many people will know you from this board and they will take your opinions seriously. Good luck I am sure you will remember it as one of your better experiences at FIU

I know I have complained about Panther Rage in the past, but I would really like to see them get more active with the sports this time of year. I know they attend games and the such in the fall, but it has become a rarity to see them at the basketball games. In fact, the only reason I am posting yet another reply to this thread is because the comment that "There is not much to do this time of year" bothered me.
There is always something an organization can do. If their main objective is on a hiatus, then they need to find other things to do to energize the membership. I served as the president of an organization and suffered the same "Spring Lull" that many organizations experience, but filled that time with service projects, fundraisers, and other events to keep the intrest. In the case of this time of year, there is Basketball happening and that is pretty much it. This becomes a great time to have fundraising and self evaluation of the organization. This provides the oportunity to keep things fresh and improve the organization as a whole.
