This morning on my way to my house, I was listening to 790 the ticket. There was a guy talking about him being at a program for a long time and what not . Then he began talking about being fired, and as he was fired they escorted him out of the building. He said when he got in the elevator the cops said they had never seen anything like this before in there lives, that they were ashamed of the actions that had happend. He also said that the cops did not want to be there because he knew this guy took care of his players. They also began to say that this was one of the more classier coaches they have ever been around.
Also, they began to talk about the UM baseball game on April 4th, a person who is a die hard canes fan said that he saw pistol pete giving high fives to the UM players in there dug outs while danny price meet with his players out in left field.

The situation with the police escorting Price out of the building is a total lie. The police were NOT called. They stopped at the stadium when they saw a truck with the doors open backed up against the front entrance of the stadium. Coach Price, in fact, went back the next day to finish emptying his office. (Again, unescorted.)
Whether or not anyone agrees with firing Danny or not, please report the facts accurately. I personally spoke with campus police and even the chief of the campus police made an official statement of these facts.
In the interest of accuracy, Coach Price was fired after he was given the options to resign and/or retire. He would have remained a part of the program if he had accepted those options. He chose not to.
Again, in the interest of accuracy, the FIU AD did NOT give anyone high fives after the game. His team had just squandered a lead and lost. I was there before, during, and after the game.
Please stick to the facts.

Thank you Desacrga...............I am tired of all the BS and rumors.........It is obvious that someone has an agenda to slander Pete...........I am sorry if you were mistreated as a student athlete after PG came on board, but life has many challenges..........I work in the private sector for a huge Fortune 500 co. here in town, sometimes I feel misled, betrayed and ill-equipped to do my job. I have 2 choices since I am not the CEO. I can resign and go elsewhere or roll with the punches and adapt. Price has had what 5+ plus years of Mediocrity That means that anything less than Conf. Titles or NCAAs is like missing your quota numbers/forecasts......Real world, your canned after 2 or 3 years of average production. COMFORT ZONEs ruin careers........NEW bosses do not owe anyone anything...........So get over it brother !!!

Thank You descarga for clearing a bit of the air from what I suspected are some disgruntled people spreading rumors and lies in order to cause someone they don't like harm and bad publicity.
Once someone says a lie, or half truth, or hears something similar, then others start repeating them as if it was a fact, and it becomes a "truth" in the eyes of whoever is saying it, without even taking the time to double check and examine the facts. It is a lot easier to shoot from the hip and let the bullets land wherever they might, regardless of who you are damaging...
Gracias....

My God...it amazes me what Bullsh*t is written on this board. If you report "facts," (I am not calling out anyone in particular, just venting about all the disinformation that has been posted on fiugoldenpanthers.com since Danny's firing) make sure they are actual facts so that those of us who KNOW the TRUTH arent' required to come on here and correct you.
One more time: Danny had the opportunities to turn this thing around. He didn't - he has not made the postseason since 2002 and said he needed an additional 3 years to turn this thing around. He was let go. He had the chance to leave with his head up and resign. HE, DANNY PRICE, CHOSE TO FIGHT. Don't complain about a lack of loyalty. He had it. Danny had 28 years of loyalty from the institution. Why don't any Price supporters note the dismal GPA of his team? That wouldn't support Danny, that's why. Again, if you're going to post (Again, I am not referring to any specific poster), post FACTS. Report the good and the bad because there is plenty of both.
In the end, Danny chose to fight. He was let go. If it was indeed him on 790 am this morning, in my opinion, it was classless to go on the air and discuss the terms of your removal and LIE about it (see Descarga's post). To all those that defend Danny and/or slander Pete Garcia - stop with the bickering about his removal being "wrong." It would have been "wrong" had he just been told to leave. He was given a chance. He turned it down. He is gone. I am younger than most posters on here, but having worked at the highest levels of the corporate and governmental world, I know the game. One day you are wanted. The next you are not. That's life. Maybe Pete Garcia is here today and gone tomorrrow. That's life. People come and go. That's America, people. Stop pregnant doging.
On to the next coach. Good luck to whomever that may be. And most of all, good luck to a good man in Danny Price. He is a good person that unfortunately chose this exit.

Wow...Aren't we in unsion here? Difference of opinions and facts will always be part of these type of forums. Also, rumors and innuendos, unfortunately are also part of this, bringing sometimes debates, sometimes heated. It should all be ok, and don't feel singled out. After all, we are all part of the Golden Panther Nation.....

I'm glad Danny is no longer the baseball coach for FIU. The baseball program needs a skipper. Danny was just riding on his tenure and letting his belly get bigger and bigger. I happy he is gone.

FIUBLUE82 YOU SEEM TO KNOW SO MUCH. WHERE YOU THERE WHEN DP WAS LET GO. DO YOU HAVE ALL YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT I DONT THINK SO. HES WAS NOT GIVEN A CHANCE HE WAS FIRED ON THE SPOT. DP SAID TO PG HE WAS NOT A QUITTER AND PG DIDNT SAY WELL WHAT CAN WE DO TO MAKE THINGS BETTER HE FIRED HIM. ABOUT THE POLICE THING THOSE CAMPUS POLICE KNOW DP 'S TRUCK IT ONLY SITS OUT AT THAT PARKING LOT ALL THE YEARS AND THEY HAVE TALKED TO HIM AND SEEN HIM IN IT. THEY KNEW WHO WAS THERE AND THEY WERE THERE THAT NIGHT. THE OTHER COACHES WERE WATCHED WHILE GETTING THERE THINGS. CAMPUS POLICE IM SURE WAS TOLD NOT TO SAY THE TRUTH. DP WAS THERE IN FACT THE NEXT DAY PACKING HIS THINGS AND YES THERE WAS NO POLICE BUT THEY WERE THERE THE NIGHT BEFORE AND NOT BECASUE THEY SAW A TRUCK BACKED UP. THEY WERE TOLD TO GO . DESCARGA I KNOW SOMEONE THAT SPOKE WITH THE CAMPUS POILCE AND THEY SAID THEY WERE TOLD TO ESCORT HIM AND THEY FELT BAD ABOUT IT. ONCE AGAIN ITS HE SAID SHE SAID STUFF SO WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH . CONSIDERING PG HAS FIRED SO MANY PEOPLE I WOULD THINK I WOULD TAKE THEIR SIDE BEFORE PG SIDE. NOBODY REALLY KNOWS THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT HAPPEN BEHIND CLOSE DOORS BETWEEN DP AND PG. THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES. I JUST CHOOSE TO BELIEVE DP.

I do have all the facts. I spoke to campus police AND I read the statement issued by the chief of the campus police. This is not based on "he said, she said" or "I know someone who spoke to campus police.
Also, Danny Price WAS given the opportunity to retire or resign, something he should have done on his own with dignity during the season. He chose to be fired. Don't let the facts get in the way of your opinions.
The bottom line is that there is no excuse for where this baseball program is and has been headed the last few years. FIU baseball should be better than UM, and should rule the Sun Belt conference. High School coaches in South Florida did not respect or trust Coach Price or Coach Casas. Check out the number of South Florida players that have ended up going to places like Marshall, Manhattan, Duke, Stanford, LeMoyne, and Tennessee.
Just for fun, you may want to check up on the Louisville team that is going to the World Series in Omaha this year with 8 (EIGHT) players from Miami, including the MVP of their Super Regional, Pete Rodriguez (Columbus High School) and the MVP in their regionals, Chris Dominguez (Gulliver Prep).

It seems that some of people, particularly some new posters here, are a bit too emotionally attached to the situation. Facts and reason should override emotions.....Great post, descarga....
