Sorry about bringing this up so late, but it seems that the board is getting a little dead and I wanna try and liven it up.
With the conference commissioners denying the plus one system, and now bringing in two additional bowl games it seems that the NCAA would rather allow even more ridiculously undeserving teams into the post season. The only team that had a winning record and was not granted a bowl game birth was Troy, now they are going to give spots to four more teams. It just seams that bowl games are just money making opportunities, not for the sake of better competition.
What do you think about their decision?

the whole college football postseason is ridiculous. There are dozens of bowl games and most are lame. The Independence Bowl, The motor city bowl? Come on!!! These are all games that really have no meaning whatsoever because they usually pair random teams, not teams based on skill like in a playoff system.
A playoff system is needed not only to crown a true champion at the end of the season, but to keep postseason interest in college football alive. Answer honestly, how many pre Dec 30th bowl games did anyone watch? I saw the New Orleans Bowl, but thats it. The presidents of the Big Ten and Big 12 conferences are the two biggest opponents of the playoff system. Why? Put simply they are greedy and selfish. They believe that if a playoff system is adopted regular season games will lose their importance which in turn will cause less people to watch games on TV and thus the schools will lose TV revenue. Plus the teams that play in these two conferences seldomly make it into National Championship games (with the exception of Ohio State, but last seasons appearance was a joke), instead these teams play in the plethora of "postseason" bowl games.
I really dislike the current system of BCS polls and so forth. Let the teams with the best records play each other and let the system find the best team in each season. Imagine a USC- Arkansas national championship game. That wouldve been a much better match up than LSU- Ohio State. It works for the NFL, it works for NCAA Basketball and it works in the MLB, it will work in college football. Its ridiculous to say that we need every single regular season game "to count" otherwise noone will care. Tens of Thousands of people go watch subpar NFL teams in december. For the final Dolphins game of the season against the Bengals there were about 52,000 people in attendance. That was with a 1-14 record. I think common sense dictates that people will pack a stadium and watch a television broadcast of a 10-2 or 9-3 LSU or Florida Gator team.
