amazing win! So we close down the orange bowl with a win.... we close down our series with a win (while they are ranked #1 in every poll)... these are the key wins that are going to help this program reach the next level in the near future. GO FIU!!!! Definitely a true statement, we need more like this. September 20th sounds like a great date for the next big FIU win. Also, just reading some Miami fans posts, they are saying that UM played "down" to our level. If you were at either of the games, you know that UM wanted to DESTROY us. This is a midweek game that they went all out for and we beat them. Fact is, last night, we were the better team, even Jim Morris admitted it in the Herald article. Another guy blamed it on their midweek pitching, last I saw, that was our midweek pitching as well. Whatever the case was, FIU was 16 games under .500 and went into the house of the best team in the nation and beat them. Miami will be in Omaha and might bring home another College World Series title when the season ends. This is a very big win for the program. Now lets start winning some conference games and have a respectable showing from here on out.

FIU athletic director Pete Garcia said he hopes Morris and the Hurricanes decide the crosstown rivalry is worth saving -- at least in baseball. Garcia added that because of the proximity of the schools, they can play during the week and save school days for their student-athletes.
Garcia worked at Miami on separate occasions and in various capacities for more than a decade.
''Obviously we'd love to play and I have all the respect in the world for coach Morris,'' said Garcia, who took in the game from a field-level seat near the Miami dugout and wore his UM baseball national championship ring.
WHATS UP WITH THIS??? WHAT BS

WHATS UP WITH THIS??? WHAT BS Ask Pete about that. While you're at it, it wouldn't hurt to congratulate the team for beating the top-ranked program in the country. You know, the one Danny couldn't beat since 2004?

For your info I was there and even could of been sitting near you if you were there.... I am very happy for the team. Its just sorry that PG would sit by UM and wear UM ring when he works for FIU now. Maybe PG should get over the fact he doesn't work for UM anymore he is FIU now..WHAT do you think the players feel when the read this stuff in the paper??? As far as DP whatever old news who cares he is gone everyone got what they wanted. You and PG must be friends?? You are always so quick to defend the man. Oh and to the comments about DP son being there do you blame the kid?? The man was fired because he wouldn't quit on his players that should stand for something!!!!

I don't care if he wears the Maniac custom, all I care about is that he puts people in place to win. His first full athletic year is up, more improvement is needed but there are good signs. By the way, apparantly the "kids" were more worried about WINNING than what Pete Garcia was doing or wearing in the stands. Maybe YOU should worry about the same. Go F I U! JUST WIN BABY!

Please....if you look at ALL your posts there is just one common element in ALL of them. I'm not defending anyone, nor I am a friend of PG. I just have years of being a relentless, passionate, open, and fair fan of FIU sports. My record on these type of boards speaks for itself. I'm glad, however, to see that you are still, apparently, supporting FIU baseball in your own way, while despising Turtle and PG. That is enough for me to respect your position, while strongly disagreeing with you.
DP's kid wearing UM stuff in a game vs. FIU is just ridiculous, I am sorry to tell you....pathetic and sorry in my opinion.
