Does any one know why the men's soccer program has not recruited for the upcoming season?

Garcia wants to cancel soccer and put the 700k or so budget that it costs annually for soccer into football. Thats why he didnt go out and get a coach. the reason he couldnt do it last year is because there were already too many signings by the time he tried to do it.

I didn't know he had tried to abolish the program last year. So, what are we going to have, a losing team this year and then abolish the program. I suppose since football is more important, FIU will no longer have a soccer program. A program that has been successful since the onset and put FIU on the map. I don't like it, but if it improves our football program, then it's a necessary evil.

Really? Wow, I didn't know about this, that's crazy. But I guess if it's for the better of our football program, then I suppose it's good...

Dude, why are you going to get rid of soccer? I have loved football my entire life but I wouldn't give up fĂștbol for anything. Why not get rid of basketball? No one shows up for those games.

b/c you have a higher probability of generating more money and exposure thru basketball than soccer ever could. i wouldn't ax either program.

i wouldn't ax either program. That is my point. I don't see why soccer has to be singled out. We all need to remember that our soccer program has been MUCH more successful than our basketball team.

Men's soccer has been extremely successful at FIU and I hope it won't be cut. It's one of the few successful programs this university has fielded. However, even Rick Mello cut the program only to reinstate it a few days later after intense community pressure was applied to bring it back.

I, too, hope soccer is not abolished. However, the writing is on the wall. This program was going to abolished several years back ,and if it wasn't for the outcry of the alums, community and students - it would have been. Look where we're at now: a new coach that has no D-1 experience. Trust me, I like Munga. I watched him play when he was a student-athlete. But its obvious, no new recruits, just the leftover from last year and a coach that will get some D-1 coaching experience. and then go on to greener pasture. What does this equal: we will not have a soccer program in a year or two, at the most. Bey-bey soccer. At this point, I would rather see the money go to basketball, baseball and football if it's going to help bring in better coaching and wins. I stopped driving from Broward to Miami to watch FIU baseball and basketball three years ago. Now, I'm looking forward to going to the games again albeit a bit bitter of losing soccer. But something has to give taking into consideration the budget cuts. I want to see the stands filled with fans like the Michigan basketball game many moons ago.
