2006-2007 Total Annual Scholarship Limits Ever wonder how many scholarships a college/university is permitted to give out? Not all scholarships are full scholarships, so sometimes scholarships will be split up. Here are the 2006-2007 total annual scholarship limits mandated by the NCAA for Division I athletic programs: Men | No. | Women | No. | Baseball | 11.7 | Archery | 5 | Basketball | 13 | Badminton | 6 | Cross Country/Track and Field . | 12.6 | Basketball | 15 | Fencing | 4.5 | Bowling | 5 | Football | 85 | Cross Country/Track and Field . | 18 | Golf | 4.5 | Equestrian | 15 | Gymnastics | 6.3 | Fencing | 5 | Ice Hockey | 18 | Field Hockey | 12 | Lacrosse | 12.6 | Golf | 6 | Rifle | 3.6 | Gymnastics | 12 | Skiing | 6.3 | Lacrosse | 12 | Soccer | 9.9 | Rowing (Crew) | 20 | Swimming and Diving | 9.9 | Rugby | 12 | Tennis | 4.5 | Skiing | 7 | Volleyball | 4.5 | Soccer | 14 | Water Polo | 4.5 | Softball | 12 | Wrestling | 9.9 | Squash | 12 | - | - | Swimming and Diving | 14 | - | - | Synchronized Swimming | 5 | - | - | Team Handball | 10 | - | - | Tennis | 8 | - | - | Vollyball | 12 | - | - | Water Polo | 8 | - | - | - | - | FIU Max | 132.2 | FIU Max | 99 |
This table doesn't mean we are giving out the maximum number of scholarships.

One of the reasons that some of our teams are not doing so well, Baseball, Basketball, is that we are not offering the maximum number of scholarships.
My guess is that we are not offering the maximum number of football scholarships either.
What Women's sports would you expect we would be adding

Years ago the plan was to add swimming (done) and then women rowing, which for some reason, hasn't been added as of yet. Maybe the numbers kind of reached the "acceptable" parameters of Title IX as it is now. But if a sport is to be added, at least on the initial plan by Mello, rowing would be the next women's sport to be added.

Does anyone know the ratio of men/women students at FIU? We would expect the ratio of scholarships to follow that ratio.
