Here's the link to the FIU College Town that the administration has been working with Sweethingyer to do. It's suppose to be built between 107th and 109th Av in between Flagler St and SW 8th St. In essence, this would not only connect the Engineering Center and the rest of the campus, but create more student housing, and a really awesome place to hang out. What do you guys think? metropolitan.fiu.edu/downloads/MetroNews_winter2k7.pdfI also looked up information on the construction of more housing. And in the Board of Trustees notes it said they're planning a 600-800 dorm building to be opened by Fall 2010. This would be "phase I of a 3-4 phased project of housing and shops at University Park". I guess this would have to do with that housing academic village Maidique referenced a while back.

That is just an awesome idea...I'm actually kind of pleasantly surprised this idea hasn't died down....it appears is gaining some type of "awareness" momentum. If this "College Town" ever happens, it would be just the type of boom FIU would need to help catapult the University as a full blown "traditional" college. This is so particularly due to the space constraint FIU obviously is facing now, and especially in the future. The possibilities are almost endless with this thing happening, IMO.
Go FIU!!
