UCF unveiled a new statue in front of their football stadium. Looks good, now if only we could get one made for our stadium. Maybe we can let SGA or Panther Rage know about this and start a fundraiser. We really need a panther statue ...along with new dorms and a win, but that's another story. GO PANTHERS!!

that is an amazing statue. but what kind of panther would ours look like? like on attacking on its back legs? just walking? I've thought og that before and how we would make it somewhat fierce and intimidating...

just brainstorming. maybe when it does come around there can be a contest with a design.

Panther Sculpture Competition

Student Alumni Association

Have you ever spotted a panther on campus? If not, here is your chance. Join us in participating in this sculpture competition to make our panther pride known and visible.

Purpose:

v To showcase our Panther Pride in a temporary art exhibit in University Park Graham Center

v Give an opportunity for aspiring artists to have their art exhibited in FIU

General rules:

v Open to all students and alumni

v Artist must agree to donate the piece in perpetuity to SAA

v Theme must reflect Panther on the Prowl

v Must include some form of a Panther

v Applications must be submitted prior to December 6th 2007 (see attached).

v Applications will only be accepted with a detailed design with dimensions

v The final sculpture must be a scaled replica of design

v All designs will be reviewed by a panel of students and the finalists will be selected for continuation in the competition on December 14th 2007 (you will be notified through email or phone call)

v If you are a finalist, piece must be transported to campus by the artist in designated location (TBA) by 5:00pm, March 10th, 2008

v Judging will take place from March 11th through the 14th. Winner will be announced March 14th (Place and time TBA) in a great unveiling celebration.



Artistic Requirements:

v Panther must fit proportionally on the base

v Piece and base must be a maximum of 4X1½X2

v As for material, be as creative as you can!!



Prizes and Recognitions:

v All finalists will be displayed on campus

v The runner up sculpture will receive $300 check

v The winner will receive $500 check and a MAC laptop
