She got her wish. It seems, after all, the University did the right thing in this very complex and tough situation. I hope this brightens her days.....

MIRAMAR, Fla. (WSVN) -- The Board of Trustees granted a dying college student her one wish of graduating college.
By a unanimous vote by the Board of Trustees, Kristina Panagos will receive her diploma at her home on Saturday.
Panagos' mother relayed the good news to her daughter and Panagos was glad to hear it. "That's good," said Panagos.
Panagos fought a childhood brain tumor through high school and, after a relapse last year, she had no choice but to withdraw from college. After withdrawing, she asked Florida International University for a Bachelor's Degree, but university officials would not grant it to her.
After support from all over the city of Miami, Florida International University decided to grant her, her wish.
Panagos' mother was excited to hear the decision. "I'm elated," said Lourdes Panagos. "That's all I ever wanted from all my children, but especially Kristina because I know how hard she works."
"This decision was reached after consulting internally with our faculty, and externally with state education authorities, said Modesto Maidique. "In addition to the emotional aspects of this touching case, the situation was complex because we found no precedent at both the FIU and state level that could guide us. After careful consideration we are confident this was the best decision."
"Kristina is a special individual who has honored and touched all of us with her desire to have an FIU degree," said Maidique. "Our prayers are with Kristina and her loving family."
