Friends,
My wife and children are considering approving me going back to FIU for an MBA, specifically the PMBA in Pembroke Pines.
Can anyone shed light on the pros and cons of the FIU MBA experience and value proposition? Brutal honesty welcomed.
Any insight is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey gpantera... My older brother is currently enrolled in the PMBA. He has told me that it is a 20 month program and that there are 2 classes per semester. His classes are on saturdays and he has groups ups or idk what they are called once or twice during the week. From what I have heard, it is a very prestigious and rigorous program but it is worth it. The program consists of mostly of students who are already deep into their careers (own their own businesses, future CEO's, etc..) and a small portion is of newly graduated students. Like the other MBA programs, most of the major assignments are done in groups. As for the actual curriculum, I know that there are some economics, business psychology, and statistics courses, but thats all i know. I'm not sure about the rest. Hope this helps you. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback 2006peeradvisor.
If anyone else has a thought on FIU's PMBA program or competitive intel on other MBA programs in South Florida, i'd love to hear from you. Sound off.

I've heard good things about the remote Northwestern (Kellogg) MBA program down here, but it is very expensive and you don't really get the Northwestern experience since you are remote but you get a highly ranked program on your resume. The UF online program is also an interesting option but I would go with FIU over an online UF experience.

UF has an MBA program in Weston I hear good things about as well. I was heavily leaning on that one before I decided to keep going at FIU.

xpedition,
i'm torn between FIU, UM and UF. My heart is with our G-Panthers, but I want to make a sound business decision. If you were going to sell me FIU B-school over the others mentioned, what would you say?
Thanks in advance...gpantera

Well after bouncing around and trying a different degree for a year, and then researching several options, I ended up choosing an MIS program so it was FIU hands down.
UF is the more prestigious of the 3 MBAs IMO. If you do the IMBA though, I think it'd be a better experience with FIU. It really depends what you are looking for in an MBA program and what you want out of it. You may have to whip out the old pros/cons list. From my vantage point, it sounds as though you want something local and plan on staying local. I also have the feeling you live in Broward. So I'd choose between the FIU and UF programs. Visit both with an open mind and go with the one you're more comfortable with then. The one caveat, UF is more known outside FL. But, depending on experience and other factors, it usually doesn't matter much. And if you're staying local, who cares?

great feeback Xpedition. I'm leaning towards FIU's Professional MBA in Pembroke Pines (my back yard). As for rep, FIU's is growing, even outside of the state of FL.
