I graduated a few years back, but I remember this was common around finals time. www.miamiherald.com/416/v-print/story/83620.htmlBomb threat shuts FIU building during exams BY JONELLE MARTE jmarte@MiamiHerald.com Hundreds of students at Florida International University were stranded outside Monday morning -- and unable to take final exams -- after a bomb threat closed a building on campus, police said. South Campus' Charles Perry Building, better known as La Primera Casa, was put on lockdown about 10 a.m. The five-story building houses both classrooms and administrative departments. Officials said it would be closed until at least 11 a.m. Meanwhile, hundreds of students were stuck outside. Witnesses said the fire alarms were blaring and police officers were combing the campus. At least one teacher convened class on the lawn, students said. Students taking final exams were later assigned to different classrooms.

You can imagine my horror when Devon called me this morning at 9:45 to tell me about it. Thank God that it apparently turned out to be nothing, but in the wake of things that have happened we can never be too sure.

There's always always people calling in bomb threats after things like that happen. I remember after Columbine there was a bomb threat at my middle school and just about every other school in Broward County. When my friend told me about it the morning my first response was that someone didn't want to take their final

TrueBlue is right when he says that these things always happen after a major tragedy. I was in high school when Columbine happened. I remember someone wrote on the bathroom wall that the next day, they were going to bomb the school. My mom didn't want me to go to school and a lot of kids missed school too. But, of course, always take these things seriously just to stay on the safe side.
I wasn't on campus at the time, thankfully.

After 9/11, there was at least one bomb threat on campus. I remember I was in the DM building. Everyone ran out to the fountain area (which had no water running at the time) and stood around as Maidique addressed the crowd.
But as far as yesterday's event, I think it was probably some students who failed to study for a final and called it in.
