Latest edition of undergrad b-school rankings are out. FIU only behind UF and FSU (by 3 spots) in Florida public universities. Eat our dust FAU, USF and UCF!!! FAU isn't even on this list, I wonder if they are even AACSB accredited? Of course scUM placed higher since they graduate 6 students a year. www.businessweek.com/bschools/07/undergrad/index.html#south

Thanks for the info. Some more good news for our B-School and University in general. And this ranking is up there, even with the methodology used by US News Report that doesn't favor FIU, like surveys of students having a 30% weight...and "academic quality measure" (SAT's, HS GPA, etc) which for some reason isn't as high as the general student's numbers, is also 30%. Also, our full time MBA was rated in the 3rd category listed as "U.S. Programs Also Considered for Ranking". The first two "tiers" consisted of 38 universities, none of them from Florida. The tier FIU is in consists of 32 total colleges, where only FIU and UF were considered from the state of Florida. UM was nowhere to be found there...Only 70 MBA B-Schools full time were considered....FIU among them... www.businessweek.com/bschools/06/full_time.htm

Speaking of the best B-School in the state, here's an article on the Managing Partners for the Big 4 accounting firms in Miami. Two of the four are FIU alums. Represent boys.

I never pay too much attention to these "lists", as I'm sure there are many hidden agendas. However, I do recognize their marketing potential and its nice to see we continue to rise. Seeing scUM placed so highly is downright laughable.

You guys are a class act. (not)
Message from the Dean of the College of Business at FAU.
Welcome to the Barry Kaye College of Business at Florida Atlantic University. We are proud of our College – our faculty, students, and programs. Whether you are a prospective student, a current student, an alumnus, or a member of the business community, you will find that our College embraces the core values of teaching, research, and service in all of our endeavors.
The Barry Kaye College of Business enrolls approximately 6,300 students, has seven departments, and offers bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees as well as executive education opportunities. The College is accredited by the AACSB International which represents the highest worldwide standard of achievement for business schools. We recently moved into a new, wireless classroom building with a simulated trading floor, inviting classrooms, and many places for students to study and meet. A wing of the original building was entirely renovated to house our Student Services, and the renovation of the remaining two wings will take place over the next 1½ years.
As FAU celebrates its 40th anniversary and we reflect upon our accomplishments, we are proud of our growth. This growth was achieved through the hard work and expertise of our faculty, and has resulted in considerable national recognition. For example,
the School of Accounting students are ranked 6th in the nation based on the percentage of candidates passing all four parts of the CPA examination;
the Virtual MBA has been ranked among the nation’s top 25 on-line business programs by U.S. News and World Report every year since its inception in 2000;
our real estate faculty, as a group, were ranked 8th in the nation for quality of published research;
the Department of Finance was ranked 35th in the world based on a compilation of published research in sixteen core financial journals and 2nd in the nation for published research in financial education;
the Entrepreneurship Program was included in the top 50 in the country by Success Magazine and was ranked as the best Florida-housed program by Entrepreneurship; and
the Department of Information Technology and Operations Management was ranked in the nation’s top 50 programs by Decision Line.
As Dean, I look forward to building on our established strengths by drawing from the quality of our faculty, staff, programs, and students, and by embracing the larger and dynamic learning environment that FAU offers. And, by the way, if you are in the area, I invite you to visit our new facilities – you will be pleasantly surprised.
J. Dennis Coates Dean and Professor
The college of business just got a $16 million dollar donation from Barry Kaye which is eligible for a $16million match from the state.

Why are you guys missing from the ranking then? Did you really rank so low you are off the charts? I'd rather say my school doesn't qualify for the ranking than say they rank so low they weren't even listed. Seems your Dean lists a lot of accolades but where is the ranking?

OwlJealousy, you are retarded , like some ranking is the end all. I mean congrats someone said your b-school is decent but dont go thinking you're on a completely different level than us, because I can guarantee you are not. We just don't seem to get any love.

Retarded? My name is OwlJealousy not OwlAlumni. Either way, I can now sleep better knowing you "guarantee" we are not on a different level than you guys. And remember, there are places in Boca where you can get your love, for a price of course.

To make a big deal out of "our online business programs" being the top 25 is laughable. Any senior manager will tell you that a resume based on "online course" degrees like devry or phoenix is getting tossed. As an operations director, I would NEVER hire someone based solely on online course credentials. Sure, I took a few in undergrad at FIU, but only during a single semester and stopped taking them once I realized what a joke they are. I'm very glad that my journey in grad school at FIU NEVER consisted of a single online class.
So if you're raving about FAU being on the same level as Devry and University of Phoenix, congrats! You just gave yourself a pat on the back for FAU being a bottom tier school.

snore... if you put enough qualifiers in you can make any school look good. "6th in accounted forstudents passing 4 parts of CPA, 2 parts gin"
Listen FIU has a better B-school, plain and simple.... and until proven otherwise FAU has a better football team.
End of the story

End of the story I still don't see how FIU has a better b-school. Just because someone says so doesn't make it so. What exactly does your business school teach better than we do? And we also have a better basketball team, Go Owls!
