HUGE congratulations to FIU's Naim Yisrael. I watched the finals today, and she finished in the 400 meter hurdles. The official results are not posted on the NCAA website yet for me to confirm which one. But she represented the Golden Panther nation extremely well. It was incredible to see those golden letters on that navy uniform on national television. Accoring to the FIUsports website, she also broke the school record for the sixth time this season with her finish. Now you guys can all see why she was my choice for female athlete of the year!!!

Great!!! Another FIU All American....the fact she improved her (and FIU's) top mark at least 6 times this year is a testament to her training, effort, and coaching received...Congrats Naim!!! www.fiusports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=11700&ATCLID=923170American Yisrael Breaks School Record to Finish Sixth at NCAA Outdoor Championships Courtesy: FIUSports.com Release: 06/09/2007 Yisrael finished the 400 meter hurdles in sixth place at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Sacramento, Calif. – Junior Naim Yisrael (Jacksonville, Fla.) broke the school record in the 400 meter hurdles for the sixth time this season, finishing in 56.98 seconds to place sixth in the finals on Saturday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif. Yisrael had already garnered All-American honors by making it to the final race, thus guaranteeing at least a top-eight finish. She came in 14th out of 27 competitors in the preliminary round on Thursday with a time of 58.12, and followed that by finishing eighth in Friday’s semifinals after crossing the line in 57.26. She saved her best for last with her sixth record-breaking performance of the season in Saturday’s finals. By breaking the 57-second barrier, she bested her previous record of 57.14 seconds, which was set two weeks ago at the NCAA East Regional in Gainesville. Yisrael was the only Golden Panther to score in an event at nationals, picking up three points. Juniors India George (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Joeane Jadotte (Miami, Fla./Dr. Krop) also competed in the NCAA Championships in the long jump and discus, respectively.
