The Golden Panthers play the Hilltoppers this weekend, starting with a double header on Saturday because of a rain out Friday. Another series win would be huge for the team. As poorly as they've done out of conference, they can still make a lot of noise in conference. Good luck this weekend, let's break out the brooms this weekend!

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (www.fiusports.com) – FIU’s series-opening game at Western Kentucky scheduled for 7 p.m. ET has been postponed due to inclement weather and poor field conditions. The Golden Panthers (11-20, 5-4 Sun Belt) and Hilltoppers (15-10, 3-6 SBC) begin the series at 3 p.m. ET Saturday with the first game of a doubleheader. The second game will start 45 minutes after the first game ends, and the series concludes with a 1 p.m. ET start on Sunday.
All three games will be webcast by www.WKUSports.com. Live stats will also be available on www.FIUSports.com.
FIU has won its last two Sun Belt series, against Arkansas-Little Rock and Louisiana-Lafayette, and will look to win its third-straight conference series for the first time since 2003. The all-time series between the two teams is tied at 18-18, with the visiting team winning the series in each of the last two meetings. The Hilltoppers took two games at University Park last season, while the Golden Panthers won two at Nick Denes Field in 2006.
Senior right-hander Chris Allen (3-2, 4.42 ERA) takes to the mound for the series opener against WKU southpaw Bart Carter (2-3, 6.34 ERA). Eric Horstmann (2-0, 2.89 ERA) makes the move from FIU’s bullpen to the starting rotation for Saturday’s Game 2 against right-hander Matt Ridings (5-1, 3.65 ERA). While FIU has yet to name a starter for Sunday’s series finale, WKU will throw righty Colby Beach (1-0, 3.49).
The Golden Panthers are led by senior Jorge Castillo, who is tied for the NCAA lead with 52 hits and owns a 26-game hitting streak heading into the series. Second baseman Ryan Mollica is also riding a 14-game hitting streak and ranks third on the team with a .351 average.
WKU is hitting .319 as a team with 31 home runs. Chad Cregar leads the Hilltoppers charge, leading the team with a .358 average, 35 RBI and ranks second on the team with seven home runs. Wade Gaynor leads WKU with eight home runs. The Hilltoppers can also play on the defensive end and lead the conference with a .976 fielding percentage.
