The guys are home this weekend for their first home Sun Belt conference series against UALR. Hope to see some more fans out there this weekend.

MIAMI, Fla. (www.fiusports.com) – The FIU baseball team looks to get back on the winning track with a three-game Sun Belt Conference series against Arkansas-Little Rock that begins Friday at 7 p.m. at University Park Stadium. FIU (6-10, 1-2 Sun Belt Conference) enters the game with a three-game losing streak, all of which came on a five-game road trip. The Trojans (3-10, 0-1 SBC) have only one win on the road, that coming against traditional powerhouse Mississippi State on March 4.

All three games will be webcast via Panther Pass on www.fiusports.com with Andrew Julian calling all the action. Friday and Sunday’s games also be available on WRGP 88.1 and 95.3 FM, and on the Internet at wrgp.fiu.edu.
Senior right-hander Chris Allen (1-1, 6.75 ERA) will throw Friday’s first pitch at 7 p.m. against UALR southpaw David Klumpp (1-2, 3.80 ERA). Sophomore lefty Corey Polizzano (2-1, 5.19 ERA) will take to the hill for Saturday’s 4 p.m. game against another sophomore lefty, Ashur Tolliver (0-1, 8.56 ERA). FIU will throw senior right-hander Steven Stewart (0-1, 4.67 ERA) on Sunday, while the Trojans have not yet named a starter.
FIU senior infielder Jorge Castillo takes an 11-game hitting streak into the series and leads the team with a .441 batting average, 26 hits, 45 total bases, .763 slugging percentage and three sacrifice flies. Castillo has also belted seven doubles, four home runs and 18 RBI. Raimy Fuentes is hitting .393 with a team-best 23 RBI and Tyler Townsend has already equaled his home run total from 2007 with a team-best five homers this season.
UALR is led by Matt Apfel, who is batting .375 with two home runs and 12 RBI in 13 games.
The Golden Panthers own a 22-8 lead in the all-time series, including an 11-4 mark in Miami.
