Feb. 8 and 9th
The FIU baseball program will have its first doubleheader of head coach Turtle Thomas’ tenure before the 2008 season even begins, hosting the annual Alumni Game and Diamond Dinner on February 8 and 9.
While the roster of former Golden Panthers returning for the Alumni Game is not yet set, the Diamond Dinner speaker is. College Baseball Hall of Fame inaugural inductee, South Florida and college baseball coaching legend, and current LSU Athletics Director Skip Bertman will be the guest speaker at the dinner, which will cap the two-day celebration.
The festivities start Friday, Feb. 8, as past and present Golden Panthers square off at FIU Baseball Stadium in an exhibition contest open to the public.
Fans and supporters of the FIU program can meet, greet and eat with the 2008 Golden Panthers and coaching staff at the Diamond Dinner in the FIU Graham Center at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9. There will be a thingytail hour at 6:00 p.m., followed by a dinner and auction at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $100 per seat or $1,000 for a table.
To purchase tickets, call Special Events Coordinator Sandra Perdomo at 305-348-1919 or e-mail her at perdomos@fiu.edu.
To all FIU Baseball Alumni wishing to participate in the Alumni Game, call pitching coach Felipe Suarez at 305-348-1048 or e-mail him at suarezf@fiu.edu.
