He was given the option to retire/resign following Saturday's game, but declined too and that is why he was fired

Danny was fired because the devil himself had him on his list when he came to FIU. His intentions were to fire them all. All that have been fired and several more to come are on a list. I feel sorry for Garcia because he is only making a bad wrap for himself. The President will probably be next if Garcia could have anything to do with that. The bad guy will lose out sooner or later and Danny Price will live on as the legacy of FIU baseball. Garcia can't tarnish that. DP is all about honor and loyalty. That is what he has been to FIU. Garcia can't take that from him. Garcia is about destroying it. Casanova is old news. There is always one bad apple in the bunch and he was given many opportunities to clean it up. However he chose to rot. He was simply a back stabber and was out for his own blood and nothing else. As for whether or not Danny was fired, had the chance to retire or the lame information about him having the chance to end it last season does not matter. Several on this board speak the truth that he was done wrong. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, there are no other words to speak about it. Unless you were in the room when it went down you have no right to speak. I guess roman was a fly on the wall or sat there in the midst of it all. He seems to know a lot. Talk about rivals. Can't wait to see what scUM will come from there to coach the next baseball season. True fans will be burned because your rivals are coming to take over. Good Luck to all of you. It will be interesting. I hope you are in for the ride that Garcia is about to bestow upon you. It can get worse.

fiufriend, why so pessimistic? you seem to be part of a new trend of people joining the boards soley to try and demonize and discredit PG. has he done some personal wrong to you? that certainly seems to be the case.
however, i must say i do feel for Mr. Price. it is a shame that he wasnt afforded a little more recognition. there was even a quote in the heralds sport section today from the football coach at micheal krop high school about the situation. the article was on nick "the thingy" saban . he was basicaly defending saban by pointing to the DP situation and saying that the lack of loyalt with coaches is a two way street.

fiufriend obviously has some connection with the athletic department. Whether he played ball at FIU, works there, or has people close to him that work there. Everybody who has been associated with the athletic department for a period of time know how pete garcia is operating and its bad business. the guy really doesnt know much except for when it comes to recruiting football players. a typical fan has no way of knowing that garcia is a piece of crap. if you've dealt with him personally then you know.

fiu12 - I'm sorry that in cleaning out the mess that was this athletic department that you or someone you know might have lost your job. Maybe you should try to find an AD that would accept mediocrity to failure and apply for a job at that institution. TDAOS at FIU.

im not going to comment one way or another about PG being a piece of crap as a person. i dont really care either as long as he produces results. im just suggesting that ppl who post such negativity really take a personal inventory and examine where those sentiments are coming from and decide if maybe they are biased by some personal agenda...

I mean...I understand being loyal and all to friends and former friends working as administrators at FIU and whose jobs have been lost or their comfort level shaken. I won't even call them mediocre or anything like that, because I don't believe so necessarily as there are a lot of nice, hard working people there. But the fact is this program as a whole needs a jolt...The results ARE mediocre at best. Maybe some were not dealt "right" by PG, maybe it's just sour grapes...more than likely it is a combination of both, my experience tells me...
However, this name calling and berating of PG won't change the fact of what has happened, or what will happen. Maybe all this turns out to be a disaster...I don't know...But I do know that the results we were having up to now WERE DISASTROUS, for most of our programs...Let's see what happnes from now on

I gave the analogy once and ill give it again
If you were hired to head a multimillion dollar corporation thats tanking (which is what FIU athletics is) and you had to turn the company around, the first thing you are going to do is review the personnel, the policies, the administration, etc and try to find out where the fault is and undo the damage. This is how BUSINESS works and this is all business!
I work for a company that just got bought by another company and we're all waiting to see what changes take place under the new ownership. UNDENIABLY, CHANGES WILL HAPPEN.
If you really thought that PG was going to come here into this tanking corporation and that everything would stay as it were then you're just a d**n fool. And then if PG let all these people keep their comfy jobs then you would probably be upset down the road crying that "PG hasn't done a d**n thing for our program".

Does anyone know which candidates are being considered to replace Danny Price?
Also, I think I missed his comments on Monday. What were Danny's parting words?

Word is that JD Arteaga has the inside track. He is the current pitching coach for UM. He is highly respected and very knowledgeable. His downside is that he is young.
Gino DiMare is also very interested in the job. He is also an assistant with UM. He is older and has done all the recruiting for UM the last several years.
The real interesting rumor is Tennessee Head Coach Rod Delmonico. He has been w/ UT forever and has gone to the big show a couple of years. The word is that he has had this job on his wish list for a few years now. He recruits the best players from South Florida year after year. Something Price could not do...go figure. He has a home down here and wants to make So Fla is home. The only problem is the pay. Big time coaches in D-1 make high six figures and the very best make 7 figures. FIU is not at that level yet. Dimonico is a coach who is making the big bucks.
One thing is certain.... PG will have many to choose from. The FIU job is considered a good one around the country. They will have a boat load of applicants. I know of at least 10 applicants from around the country that will apply. Non that make me supper excited.
I think its going to be JD's job.
I wish Danny Price the best. But I do not understand how anyone can criticize PG for what was done. Its time to win and I think it can be done. I expect the Baseball team to experience success sooner than later under anew regime.
Thats all I got for now. Will let you know if I hear anything else!

Delmonico was the main name the last time their was a "shake-up" in the program. Back when Danny got the "extension" But Delmonico also just got an extension last season. So it will be tough to see what happens.
And not sure where JD as the leading man is, but I've heard other names so it should be an intresting search

They're going to show Danny on WSVN in a little while. I feel horrible for him. They showed him hugging people and crying. I hate the way he left.
