Has anyone compiled the Cable TV Market Size for each SunBelt team? The City size is probably included. Initially I would REDUCE our TV market to the cable stations broadcasting within20 miles of our football stadium - For FIU, Dade and Broward County - for two (2) reasons: To reduce broadcasting costs and to target the fan base where we will get 90% of the fans who will be attending our games.
At some point in time, (within a few years?) if we develop our own SunBelt TV Network, continue to play a strong OOC schedule, upgrade all of our stadiums to include high quality TV broadcast capability, approx $1M, and develop our 9 programs, our RPI would leap over a number of conferences for the simple reason that Cable-TV exposure would encourage more athletes to attend our schools.
TV Exposure > More Visibility > More likely to be drafted > If drafted, will be drafted in a higher round.
Games could be taped for rebroadcast initially. Our minimum goal should be to have every one of our games rebroadcast in all 9 TV markets Tuesday night immediately after a coaches radio program. A 15-30 minute game wrap-up and interviews with the coaches and some players after the game telecast would further enhance our programs.
Accessibility - With all of the cable channels at the higher end of the dial looking for programming, I don't know why we don't see our games being rebroadcast - unless someone wants $$ for the rights. I wouldn't object if we gave the broadcast rights away just to get more visibility. Let the cable channel market the games and keep the revenue for x years.
