I might be hated on for saying this... but I believe the only thing holding this team back is the coaching. We definitely have the talent to take over the Sunbelt title and to win most of these out of conference games.
Coach Rouco has 2 or 3 years left in his contract. I don't think he will get the opportunity to renew it once it's over. It will also be a waste of money to release him before his contract is over (since most of the budgeting is going into football).
We are already setting the foundations for football. Baseball will be heading to Omaha with "Turtle" Thomas within the next couple of years.
Within 2 years FIU will be searching for a well known power recruiter to come take over the mens basketball program.
As for the assistant coaches, I believe they will stay. I have heard from 2 players that the team has more respect toward them, than toward Rouco.
I hope the best for this program, as it is one of the most important sports in what is collegiate athletics.

I agree the coaching has not been good. There is no excuse for poor free-throw shooting. I equate poor performance at the line to mental weakness and I blame mental weakness on coaching.
Rouco, to me, appears too nice, he lets his kids run all over him. Problem is, a strict disciplinarian may have trouble recruiting. So Rouco is stuck between a rock and a hard place; his personality gets the kids but his coaching style doesn't provide results.
Answer = Don't change anything on the recruiting trail, change everything about your coaching style.

IT would be great if ROuco would sta on as an assistant and keep recruiting for us, and we brought in a great X and O's coach.
These last two losses have me really losing faith in hime quickly.
