Anyone have any news about the schedule? I saw on the UM schedule that they are due to visit FIU on Saturday, December 8th, that's a nice home game to have. Anyone hear anything else or when it's due to be released?

I'm not sure, but I think South Florida comes to play at FIU this year. Also heard rumors of us going to Kentucky and Purdue this season on one of these boards.

This is the year for Sergio, he will not be in town much longer if he does not produce this year. For his sake, I hope there are minimal injuries/drop outs or Pete will have another major coaching job to fill. Go Panthers.

Great schedule, like all the home games, I think this is the year. I agree, there's only two killer road games, the rest of the games are definitely winnable.

www.miamiherald.com/sports/story/250656.htmlFIU men to play Purdue, Kentucky this year Posted on Wed, Sep. 26, 2007 BY PETE PELEGRIN ppelegrin@MiamiHerald.com The Florida International men's basketball team will end 2007 with a bang as the Golden Panthers play traditional NCAA basketball powers Purdue and Kentucky on the road as part of its 2007-2008 schedule that was released Tuesday. The Golden Panthers take on the Boilermakers (Dec. 29) and go to Rupp Arena to play the Wildcats (Dec. 31). But what might benefit FIU the most on its schedule are the 17 home games at Pharmed Arena -- the most in program history. Some of the noteworthy opponents on the Golden Panthers' home slate include: South Florida (Nov. 26), Miami (Dec. 8) and 2006 Final Four participant George Mason (Dec. 21). FIU opens the season with seven consecutive home games starting Nov. 12, against Florida Tech. The homestand continues against Kennesaw State (Nov. 21), South Florida, Robert Morris (Nov. 29), Florida Gulf Coast (Dec. 2), Buffalo (Dec. 5) and Miami. ''We played a lot on the road last season knowing it was a transition year for our program,'' said coach Sergio Rouco, who begins his fourth season. ''I am also extremely happy that our first seven games of the year are all at home, which will give our young guys a good opportunity to taste Division I basketball. This year, we have schools like George Mason, Miami and South Florida returning their games, which will give our fans a huge opportunity to come out and support the team,'' the coach said. FIU opens its Sun Belt Conference schedule on the road at Arkansas-Little Rock (Dec. 15) and Middle Tennessee (Dec. 18). The Golden Panthers open their conference home schedule hosting Florida Atlantic (Jan. 5). ''A successful season would be to finish in the top three of our division to get a first-round bye or at least host a first-round game,'' Rouco said. ''If everything stays the course and we don't suffer major injuries, there is no reason why we can't be one of the top teams in the Sun Belt Conference this season,'' he said.
