....according to rivals.com. Finally, Indian Hills CC starting power forward, Nestor Colmanares is listed as he signed his letter of intent with FIU on April 29. The 1st Team All American JUCO player averaged like 14 points and 9 boards a game for the team that was ranked #1 in the nation heading into the JUCO championships. So, we have signed a 1 (Tremayne Russel), a 2/3 (Sadell Ayala), a 4 (Nestor Colmenares..who can play the center position if needed), and a 5 (Badara Ndyie..who can also be a power forward). Combined with transfers who sat out, Russel Hicks ( the 7 foot center from Pepperdine), and Kenneth White (the combo from Texas A & M), this might finish our signing season.... I haven't found any confirming reports, but I guess that if Rivals lists him as signed, then it should be correct. www.fiu.rivals.com/commitlist.asp?Year=2007&School=129&Sport=2

Well, now that I read the possible sanctions due to low APR, on today's Herald, Pelegrin quotes Pete Garcia as stating they expect to lose 12 scholarhips in total, 2 of them in men's hoops, and 1 in baseball. Garcia and the University, though, have acted proactively and already took out those 2 schollies from basketball and the 1 from baseball, plus 6 already surrendered in football in January. www.miamiherald.com/601/story/92201.htmlNew Scholarship Players Just signed: (4)1. Badara Ndyie 2. Tremayne Russell 3. Sadell Ayala 4. Nestor Colmenares (not confirmed yet) Returning Scholarship Playes: (8)1. Cedric Essola 2. Chris Fuller 3. Nikola Gacesa 4. Alex Galindo 5. Michael James 6. Erick Nsangou 7. Russell Hicks 8. Kenneth White Folks, that adds 12 players. The maximum schollies for men's hoops is 13, so minus the 2 "surrendered", means only 11 could be under scholarships for this year. It means (or one could deduct) that one of the above "returning" players won't be here next year...at least with a scholarship to pay their way in FIU. Who could be the "casualty"? Or is the Colmenares signing not a done deal? Somehting has to give...

Could they have given it up as part of the 2007 scholastic year?
