Well, it appears that $110M of our tax dollars are going to refurbish the OB, though not an extra dime could be found for the Marlins ( www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/local/13355047.htm ).
The private university has its hands in the public till yet again. From the hundreds of millions we pump into JMH via the 1/2 cent sales tax to the bond issue that was recently passed which was supposed to go toward building community infrastructure. This private institution, who basically answers to no one, is being funded by our public dollars. Couldn't $110 million be better spent on getting health care to those who don't have it. What about housing for the people of Liberty City, Overtown, Brownsville, etc. etc. etc.
The bigger they get the more voracious their appetite will become. Wake up Miami, our tax dollars are being funneled to support a private institution (and the herald is absolutely giddy).
