Jackson is a public hospital thats geared to serve the poor and those without insurance. It is run by the Public Health Trust which does not answer to UM. Baptist, South Miami, Kendall; those are private hospitals. The reason for its budgetary problems is that the county swamps it with requests that they themselves do not put money up to help fund. Read and learn the facts before you make uninsightful comments just to take a swipe. Im an FIU fan just like everyone else, plus I work for the athletic dept., and hearing several people on this board take pot shots because they have a chip on their shoulder is wasted space. Let's keep everything on the FIU board related to FIU, please!

How naive we are. Who do you think sits on that Public Health Trust that controls Jackson? Last I saw, UM doctors and administrators held a majority of the seats on the Health Trust. Jackson is a huge 'cash-cow' for the UM.
Also, tell me why when the news is negative about Jackson, the Herald doesn't say word one about the association it has with UM. But when Jackson is voted top-25 in the country for this or that, it gushes and highlights the UM - Jackson relationship.
Listen, I've been on this subject for quite some time. Perhaps I'll do some reseach and pull up some info from a year and a half ago on the big bru'haha that went on over there that forced the ouster of the long time head of that hospital. How the newly elected president of that association was fired for calling attention to the kozy relationship between UM and the Public Health Trust.
And one last thing; who are you to tell anyone what topics are appropriate for this board?[/size]
