I saw a sneak preview of the new movie "Coach Carter" which opens nationwide on January 14th, 2005. The movie was VERY GOOD! I compare it to a mix between "Remember the Titans" and "Lean On Me". Those two movies starred Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman, respectively. "Coach Carter" stars Samuel L. Jackson and he performs at just as high of a level if not higher as the other two actors. This movie is inspired by the true-life story of controversial high-school basketball coach Ken Carter, who received both high praise and staunch criticism when he made national news in 1999 for benching his entire undefeated basketball team for poor academic performance. If you're going to see one movie this weekend, make it this one. It's rated PG-13, so take some impressionable young children that may not be on the right path so that they can hopefully learn something.
