Let's try this one more time...
With our new stadium under construction, it's time time to make what seems like an inevitable change--changing our football helmets from blue to GOLD.
Gold helmets with a white FIU logo bordered in blue. The FIU Golden Panthers finally get the gold that we deserve!
Why?
1. We ARE the Golden Panthers after all. I know there have been rumors that we're dropping "golden" from our nickname, but that would be very short-sighted, as there are many plain "Panthers" that already exist in college football (including the blue-and-gold University of Pittsburgh), but only ONE Golden Pathers.
2. Gold is a classic color for a college football helmet. Our uniforms are simple and classic (when we lose the blueberry pants), and a gold helmet would only add to the look;
3. Only one other team in all of college football has gold helmets with white lettering -- Georgia Tech. The white on gold stands out and is a truly unique look. Try to find many programs with more history and tradition than Georgia Tech.
4. It would look great with blue/white jerseys and gold pants, and in my opinion, be one of the best uniforms in all of college football.
5. We're about to embark on a new era in Golden Panther football in 2008, and a slight change to our uniforms would help change the mindset that this is a different program heading in a new direction, and set it apart from the last 2 year's 1-23 combined record---a record established wearing primarily all blue uniforms.
Kill the blue pants and add a gold helmet. Let the Golden Panthers shine in 2008!
