What kind of impact do you all expect from Bernard Clark as defensive coordinator? I'm hoping there will be a lot of improvement in the defensive line, especially against the run. Who are some of the defensive linemen fighting for starting jobs this year? Are there any new names to look for?

I know that Strock recruited like 7-9 new D-Line players for this season. Don't know if all are in camp, or if there are some others that have made it to camp Strock besides the "announced" ones.... I know that Damian Haye is not returning to the team....Hopefully, the returning players (Farias, CarreƱo, Higdon, Ira Turner, Terrence Allen, Matt Berrios, Daunte Foster, and Shaun Dudney) will have improved dramatically on their own with more strength and speed, besides more experience.
I truly think the addition of Bernard Clark will reap great rewards, not just because of his personality and style, but because we will have someone finally directing the defense as a whole, not just several units doing their thing. Of course, there's a bit of "wishfull thinking" on my part but, hey...that's why I'm an FIU Fanatic ;D

I was listening in to WRGP today ('round 12:30p) and someone there was doing some kind of a preview on the defensive line. I couldn't listen to much of it (had to leave the computer), but I did hear them mention a 300-pound freshman named Tad McConahie (I think that's how you spell it) that may see some time this year. The kid's strong as a bull, apparently, and could start right away. Nice to see we got some size on the line.
BTW, Fanatic, Allen isn't on the team this year. He's been declared academically ineligible, as was Mike Sherril and Chris Horne. At least, that's what I heard on WRGP today.
I agree with you on Clark. We should've had a d-coordinator years ago...

Well...I knew about Sherill, but didn't know about two other Defensive Ends.....Wow...that's 3 defensive ends that were supposed to return that aren't contributing...I guess we will have to use more true freshmen than expected in our weakest position from last year. We still have Daunte Foster...Damian Haye (another Defensive End! ) also left the team!!!
