I'm excited, BUT I haven't heard one single mention of where FIU would fit in to this new station. Anyone have any insight on this?

Randy mentioned last Wedsnesday on Strock Talk that they were sort of up in the air, and didn't really know yet. I guess that's another question that should be addressed next Wednesday's show since it will be only 22 days until opening day Sept. 2 against Jacksonville.
I hope we stay on WAXY. It's a very strong signal from Dade to Palm Beach, and the fact that WAXY will turn into a "sports station", would allow FIU broadcasts (Strock Talk, Rouco Show, Football and men's and women's basketball games) to access a wider sports-oriented audience. However, it doesn't necessarily looks good.

However, WAXY's signal is very strong, similar to WQAM's, that covers the tri county area.....I'm not sure there are many others that have the strong signal WAXY has....that's my only "minor" concern......

I can't see FIU staying on ESPN. Long-term, anyway. It'd be fantastic for FIU, but why would ESPN Radio want to affiliate with us? We aren't big enough yet, unfortunately.
Regardless, I'm sure the WAXY guys will be on somewhere. That's their livelihood, and Mandich has lots of pull, so I'm sure they can get something if not WAXY.
And hell, if all that fails, there's still WRGP, y'know. Their signal isn't that great unless you live in South Dade, but they do broadcast online as well. It's something.
