Let's get a REAL rivalry started!!!!

Hey, is there anyone out there that can think of something interesting to fuel a rivalry between our arch-rivals, FAU???

What other sports can boast games simply known as "The World's Greatest Outdoor thingytail Party," "Clean, Old Fashioned Hate," or "The Iron Bowl?"

Rivalry games are completely unpredictable, and to the fans they are the most important of all. A mediocre season can be justified by topping a hated foe. In many conferences, rivalry games are so important that coaches can be fired for failing to achieve victory. Jim Tressel at Ohio State is now engraved in Buckeye folklore, having guaranteed a win over despised rival University of Michigan shortly after his hiring. Having come through on his promise in 2001, Tressel has yet to lose to Michigan in what is possibly college football's most heated rivalry.

Unlike in other sports, college football rivalries are deep seeded and many times involve regional rivalries. A familiar one to the state of Georgia is of course Georgia Tech and Georgia, otherwise known as "Clean Old Fashioned Hate." The name says it all as both Bulldog and Yellow Jacket fans rarely have sympathies for each other. The same in many rivalries, the underdog would like nothing more than to spoil the season for their hated foe.

Rivalries are what sell college football. They can cause friends to become enemies, families to rift (of course only for gameday), and co-workers to owe each other money. A rivalry game means just as much to the fans as it does the players, I mean truly, how important are bragging rights?

Easy...both teams are undefeated going into the game this year and FIU wins - for the first time. Better yet, one team spoils a bowl bid in 2005.

How about going to one or several of their campuses and doing something unusual......after doing so, we can alert the media of where to find it, thus starting a rivalry!!! ;D

A victory last year would have done it!!! But unfortunately, we can't always leave it up to the football team.

P.S. Please read that I'm not trying to incite a riot or anything criminal but we need something sneaky.....

Pre 1990s, that would be fine. Nowadays, you'll go to jail. See: Utah baseball players getting arrested. Rivalries don't start overnight. FAU and FIU is a natural rivalry, give it a couple of years. We haven't even had a graduating class yet!

Have you ever been on their campus? Do they have an owl? Do we have a panther? Perhaps the frats can come up with something, a flag?. we would have to know in advance what they are going to try and get - The army tries to steal the navy's goat every year

I was recently on a trip to Orlando and I just so happened to exit off of the highway (I-95) for a bathroom stop and came across the Jupiter campus of FAU. They just so happen to have large "Florida Atlantic University" signs with an owl attached to it. Now, I'm not saying that we have to go all the way to Jupiter, but (I'm not very familiar what the Boca Raton campus looks like) I'm sure that we could find something to do at one of their nearby campuses, preferably their main campus in Boca.
And I do recall one of our loyal fans at last year's football game carrying a paper mache (read as Piñata) and beating the stuffing out of it at the same time that our team was beating the "stuffing" out of FAU until they came back at the end of the game.
That is a start.
But my whole point of starting this thread is to strike first and not wait for them to humiliate us.
We could definitely use the help of the frats

Well in relation to what is being discussed, I remember back during our first seasson, the week before the FAU game, someone had toilet papered the trees outside GC and wrote FAU on the sidewalk, grass and trees with Shaving Cream. Nothing too nasty but it was there.

Hahaha, I remember that! The guy brought an owl piñata and let the kids beat on it. What crack me up was the little kids actually were scared of the owl! Anyways yea, I think that guy is a great example of the rivalry that is already brewing. In fact I have a buddy of mine that graduated from high school with me that now goes to FAU. We give each other crap all the time about our schools.
