I posted this on a Florida Marlins message board that I am a member of, we were discussing our expectations for our favorite college teams. I was wondering what you guys think. Here's my post about FIU:
Any thoughts? Would like to hear your expectations and predictions for 2004.
FIU will have a tough schedule this year playing top I-AA competition and 3 I-A teams from the Sun Belt as they go through their transition season to playing I-A football. This will be a good tune up for next season in which FIU will face a full Sun Belt schedule and will likely take on Kansas State and Texas Tech.
FIU went through a tough schedule last year, finishing 2-10, they also showed much improvement against the 4th toughest I-AA schedule in the nation. FIU stayed close against top I-AA teams throughout 2003. In 2004, I expect them to finally get over the hump which they failed to do so in 2003, this will all come together with healthy running backs and having a starting quarterback that will not be thrown into the mix unexpectedly like last season. Our run defense should be much improved with the addition of a new defensive coordinator and a healthy front four. Our linebackers and defensive backs are already outstanding and should continue to get better.
A great event was just officially announced today by FIU and Florida A&M university. On November 27th, FIU and FAMU will play the Orange Blossom Classic at the Orange Bowl. This is an exciting event and should provide a nice boost in attendance. Hopefully this will be the beginning of a nice rivalry between both schools, I can't wait to go see this event live and take a look at FAMU's amazing band. The info for the event can be found here:

My prediction for this season, is for FIU to lose only 2 or 3 of the I-AA games and win at least one of the I-A games. This would leave FIU with maybe a 6-5 or 7-4 record.
