Thanks for the Info, Jay. It's another milestone and achievement made by FIU in its short existence. It is also pretty telling, that, little by little, our University is beginning to be recognized and be named the nation's #1, using objectives measures!!!!
With more time, more evidence of the quality of our graduates, the increase of quantity and quality of our research, the improvement of Athletics (Yes,Football is important!!), the growth of our campus, and campus life, then also some Subjective Reviews will give its due to FIU.
Way to Go FIU!!! We are #1!!!!!

"Seventy-five colleges and universities out of some 3,500 schools have been ranked as the top values across the United States by Consumers Digest Magazine. The rankings are based on several attributes that validate or define the institutions' academic prowess actored against the annual cost of tuition and room-and-board. Among 50 public institutions cited, Florida International University ranked No. 1. Among 25 private institutions, Brigham Young-Hawaii took top honors. The rankings (the full list can be found at http://www.consumersdigest.com) were derived from a formula that blended academic excellence of first-time freshmen at a school (standardized test scores, high-school rank, grade-point average) with the institution's educational quality (student-to-faculty ratio, graduation rate, percentage of faculty holding a PhD or terminal degree). That "value-index" score was factored with the estimated cost of attending each school to determine which schools offered the most academic value per dollar." They could've just asked us.

Madique is the Man! This is great news. Did anyone see a story on it in the Herald. Link it if you find one please, for us out of towners. Its too bad South Florida doesnt give FIU the respect it deserves. Though I think that it changing. We get alot of good attention outside of Florida, especially by people in academia, bussiness, communications, Hospitality Management, and other professional fields and interestingly enough soccer.
