I just renewed my Season Ticket Package, adding one more seat to my previous two years' group. Just wanted to see how is everybody doing in respect to their season tickets. Any idea how the renewal rate is going?...and what are the goals for this season?
Get someone else involved!!..

I renewed this week too...added on 2 more new season ticketholders. I was pretty disappointed though with the lackluster effort put forth by the Athletic Department (again!) in luring new season ticket holders...no Alum I know received any marketing material or promotions pushing tickets and didn't see any advertisements anywhere. In fact, I forgot to mail in my renewal form and barely missed the "deadline" and no one even bother to call or e-mail to make sure I renewed...they have a long way to go before they reach that 15k average, unfortunately. I wish I knew what their strategy to lure new ticketholders was because it certainly wasn't obvious.

As you have both pointed out in your posts, notifications to season ticket holders, alumni, and individuals who have taken courses at FIU have not received information via mail and/or been contacted via e-mail. Ticket Master or whoever sells tickets receives a commission for each ticket sold. With 35,000 students attending FIU, how many of them would sell tickets over the summer to their neighbors and family friends if they could earn a commission off of each ticket they sold? In addition, how many season tickets would current season ticket holders sell to their friends or through their business if they could earn a commission? Has advertising space been purchased in the MDCC newspapers? And local high school papers? Let the whole city of Miami sell season tickets, that in itself would generate interest and publicity for FIU and the football program.

Great questions, Mike. Is there a "visible" marketing effort yet on the public eye? For those insiders...is there a marketing plan set for the remaining of the summer prior to opening game? We need the FIU brand name to be out there and "try" as many efforts to increase our season-ticket base, trickling down to individual games.
The suggestion of commissions to ticket holders is an innovative idea. I don't know how plauisible this might or might not be, but we certainly can use any idea/suggestion to improve our base.

I talked to the ticket office today, they said season tickets renewal stood at about 73% as of now. Although more renewals are expected as faculty and staff return to the University for the fall start....my gut instinct feels this percentage is pretty low given we need every season ticket holder to renew and attend games to meet the 15k avg...however this percentage also seems pretty healthy given the jump in season ticket prices over last year. I guess we'll just need this team to get off to a rocket start to boost individual game sales.
Also, the Orange Bowl Committee is now running the FIU-FAMU game and will be allocating FIU a certain number of tickets, which FIU will in-turn allocate the best seats to season ticket holders and make the rest available for individual purchases. Those tix will come with our season ticket packages as well sometime in mid-August.

Out of curiosity, where do you guys have your season tickets and about how much was it? Do they include any special benefits and is the FAMU game included? I always used my free student ticket but I just graduated so I might have to look at getting season tickets. Thanks.

I'm in Section 103, about the 45 yard line...my tickets were $115 each if I remember correctly. The FAMU game is included as we're counting it as a home game.

I'm wondering if I should still be able to get my student tickets for free since I'm graduating now in the Summer. I'll have to figure things out a bit closer to the season although I'd like to hear some opinions on what would be a good cheap option for 2 people to go to games.

I believe you can join the Alumni Association for free if you're a recent graduate...then you can receive discounted season ticket prices in a special section of theirs. Or you can just buy single game tickets and sit near the student section, I think those are $5-$10.

Question, a previous post indicated that the season ticket purchase included the FAMU game. I just recieved my renewal notice and it had a note on it that it did NOT included tickets for the FAMU game. I've renewed my tickets (Family Plan), but very disappointed in that note. Why do we have the discrepancy? TEXT

Why do we have the discrepancy? TEXTCheck out this link: www.fiusports.com/tickets/fb-tix.htmIt explains it all. It states that the FAMU game is NOT included for certain season ticket packages. Only is it included for higher packages.

Maxx, I'm on the same boat as you since I graduated Dec. 03 and won't start grad school until Jan 05. You should join the Alumni Association regardless of what you do for tickets. I plan on buying tickets for the games I go to. I don't know how many people will be going with me so it'll be easier that way (plus it gives me leeway in case I'm out of town).

Well i'm already part of the Alumni Association, I think I joined it last December. I may just buy tickets game by game. You can already purchase tickets on ticketmaster but i'm not going to do that with all the extra charges they include.
