I just found out through the websites in myspace.com from some former golden panthers that Lance Preston, the toughest linebacker that FIU football seen so far, has passed away. i read the sites form 4 of former golden panthers and all of them express their deep sorrow. i can not believe it!!..i still remember when i saw him walking in his first day at practice when FIU football started. i am in schock..i can not believe it. this is not a joke. i ignore completely the reasons for his death from such promising individual. God Bless him..and RIP.. we'll pray for you.

I can't believe the news! My thoughts and prayers go out to him, his friends and family. It's kinda sad to read the comments before and after his death on his myspace page. It all seems to happen so quickly. I was and forever will be a fan. I know the FIU family will pull together closely because of it.

I was driving home from Church yesterday, Southbound on the Turnpike. I normally catch I-595 west but the ramp was closed and a detour was in place. As I continued South on the Turnpike and I could clearly see a fallen motorcycle on the over-path but did not see the motorcycle driver. My initial reaction was a mix of anger and sadness. Anger because I presumed it was one of these aggressive motorcycle drivers who drive recklessly through our highways. Sadness because I know someone must be seriously hurt or maybe even perished.
As I awoke this morning, having put that accident I saw yesterday afternoon behind me, I came across the Lance Preston article on the Herald's website. The motorcycle I saw was his. I cannot express enough how saddened I am by this tragic news. My prayers our with the Preston family. My deepest condolences.

All of our prayers and thoughts go out to the Preston family; what an unbelievably tragic loss to the FIU family.
This season must be dedicated to his memory and a #43 patch worn in remembrance.
From literally day one, he was the heart and soul of the Golden Panther football team. He had a motor that just would not quit. I remember wanting a #43 jersey because of the way he played out there.
Please FIU, Lance needs to be remembered.
God bless Lance and his family.

May Lance rest in peace. What a tragedy. In July, one of my high school basketball teammates was killed in a motorcycle accident on his way for a weekend in the keys. Lance's family is going to be facing a tough, tough time now. May God provide comfort to the Preston's and the FIU athletic program.
