Another nationally ranked team at FIU, this time Women's tennis, is also playing yet another top flight weekend tournament. This time going to Las Vegas to play 3 other nationally ranked programs in Fresno St. (#14), Texas A&M (34), and UNLV (38). Leading the team, and surprising the nation, is FIU freshman Liset Brito, who has now cracked the national rankings in 3 situations...She is ranked #86 in singles, and ranked with two different teammates in doubles, at #20 and #43.
Congrats to Brito and FIU women's team, and good luck this weekend!!

FIU freshman Liset Brito appears three times in the latest ITA national rankings, once in singles (#86) and twice in doubles (#20-43).
FIU freshman Liset Brito (Miami/Miami Senior) and the Golden Panthers women’s tennis team put their No. 32 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national ranking on the line this weekend against a trio of top opponents in Las Vegas, Nev.
The Golden Panthers take on No. 14 Fresno State (3-2) on Friday, No. 34 Texas A&M (4-1) on Saturday and No. 38 UNLV (6-1) Sunday at the Rebels’ Fertitta Tennis Complex.
Coming off a 6-1 home opener victory over UCF last Sunday, FIU evened its dual-season record at 2-2 and Brito has been raising eyes during her first several weeks on the intercollegiate scene. In singles, she earned a No. 86 national ranking Wednesday in the first individual rankings of the season by the ITA.
That’s because three of her first four singles opponents have been ranked and Brito has more than held her own. Coming up with a three-set victory over Miami’s then-No. 29 Laura Vallverdu (currently No. 14) in the season opener has been the highlight thus far.
In doubles, she has been just as impressive with a perfect 4-0 mark accomplished with three different partners. Brito and senior Egle Petrauskaite (2-0) received a No. 20 national ranking this week while Brito and sophomore Priscilla Castillo (Miami/Sunset) got an ITA ranking of No. 43.
