...once again, like last year. I see where transportation will be provided for some fans/students for that game. Too bad we have two games (FIU women's hoops hosts a playoff game at Pharmed) at the same time the same night. If you can, I urge you to attend either of the two games, particularly the FAU one. From past history, it should be interesting and fun.... Athletics Banner game promotion

Looks like Rouco is staying regardless, per Pete, I don't know how I feel about that, but I do know that once again, he's got a good group of recruits coming in next year. Let's go F I U!

I know this is getting kind of old but...we should have Galindo, Hicks, Russell, Gacesa, and Nsangou back...plus sitting out Josue Soto, and reportedly Asprilla and another wing player...I guess we will see.....For now, let's hope FIU completes the sweep tonight at FAU.
Go FIU!!!

The third time didn’t prove to be the charm for FIU Wednesday night. The Golden Panthers, who had defeated Florida Atlantic in both games played between the two schools this season, saw their season come to an end, 91-64, in the opening round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
Carderro Nwoji led all scorers with 20 points and Carlos Monroe posted the 13th double-double of the season with 16 points and 14 rebounds for FAU (15-17) who moves on to play Arkansas-Little Rock in the quarterfinal round Sunday night in Mobile, Ala.
Russell Hicks scored a team-high 18 points, 13 of those in the second half, and Alex Galindo added 15 points for the Golden Panthers who ended their season at 9-20.
FAU came out firing on all cylinders. The Owls shot better than 50-percent from the floor, hit two-thirds of their 3-pointers on the night and dominated the boards, out-rebounding FIU, 40-23.
The game was decided early as FAU torched FIU from the opening minutes. Monroe, the Owls first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection who was relatively quite in the first two games between the two schools, recorded a double-double by halftime with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
FAU connected on 7-of-11 opportunities from beyond the arc over the first 20 minutes and hit their first four treys for an 18-5 lead with 14:26 to play. They built that to as many as 16, at 28-12 on a Jeff Parmer layup.
The Golden Panthers put on a mini-run that brought them to within eight, 30-22, on a pair of Galindo free throws with 6:10 to play, but 3-pointers by Sean Alarcon and Nwoji quickly helped the Owls rebuilt their lead. FAU went up by as many as 19 in the first half, 50-31, on a Monroe jumper and took a 50-33 lead into the break.
FIU came out in the second half and scored the first four points before Alarcon and Nwoji banged home treys to end any thoughts of a comeback.
"FAU came out and beat the heck out of us tonight,” said FIU head coach Sergio Rouco. “I told my team that just because we beat them twice this year, they weren’t going to give us anything. We would have to earn a win. But the only thing we did tonight was put on the uniform and show up. We didn’t compete early on.”
About the only good stat to come out of the game for FIU was four more blocked shots by Hicks, giving him 60 on the season—a new school record.
“This was a tough way to end the season,” Rouco said. “I never thought they could beat us on the boards the way they did and they made a lot of shots, too. They shot the ball well, but you have to make people miss. And we didn’t make them miss.”
For FIU, who loses only senior Chris Fuller from this year’s squad, March Madness ended almost as quickly as it started.
