Miri and I went on the bus to Boca to watch the game tonight. Maidique was on the bus, supposedly it was his idea to do this and it was a pretty good crew on the bus as most seats were full. After the game, Pete Garcia and Sergio Rouco both came on the bus to thank us all for coming. Pete mentioned that next year, they want to do the same with more time and their goal is to get 4 bus fulls of people. During the trip back, Mr. Maidique asked questions about what we can do to get more students at the game. I mentioned to him that first and foremost is winning, but I also mentioned that some kind of signs outside the arena hyping up the game would help because many times you don't even know there's a game going on in there. Others suggested having the players out more like the baseball team was doing today.
As for the game, FAU had a good student section. They were into the game with chants and all, but they were pretty classless at many points including full out chants involving swears and many birds being flung at our section. I don't mind all that because I know how people can get into sports. What I did find funny about their students was that after the game was over, a bunch of the students started throwing their red shirts onto the court in disgust, guess they took the burry the burrow in red thing a bit too literally. I should have taken a picture of it but it didn't come to mind at the time. Anyways, it was a great way to show school pride by them. It was definitely fun beating the birdies.
BTW, posterchild, was that you sitting next to my girl and I screaming during free throws?
Anyways, here are some pics:
