Our alumni start chuckin up the guap! I mean where is the monetary support for our athletics program? It is pathetic to sit here and see people blaming FIU for not doing enough to win. But the fact is I go into work with the football team basically everyday (for free) and all I here from the people I work with are, " you know at UM they have "X" number of people doing this and we have half that.." Why you ask? Because we don't get crap worth of funding from "fans" and alums.
WHY IS IT THAT PEOPLE DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR ALMA MATER?
I mean I know that we get some generous donations from corporate pockets, but FIU needs some of their alums to pony up. So next time you see one of your FIU alum friends griping about how bad FIU is at football tell em to buy season tickets and start making out some checks to the athletic department.
Do as Maidique says, "Be advocates for Florida International!"

If you want to blame it on someone, blame it on the students. They don't show up to the games.
How's that for finger pointing?
Don't come on here blaming Alumni when you know that all the Alumni on this page actually support FIU athletics with money and attendance.

lol look its no ones fault and its everyones fault. definately more students should attend games. i mean i just recently started getting into FIU football and im goin to be graduating in a year, and def. more alum should be steppnig up to the plate, however, the school also has blame for even the pres. stated that before PG got to FIU the Athletic Director was really not involved nor were there any attempts to get them more invlove its goin to take the entire FIU community , school, student, and alum. to get FIU to a position that we all want it to be at

Don't come on here blaming Alumni when you know that all the Alumni on this page actually support FIU athletics with money and attendance. Did I say that the alumni on this site don't support FIU athletics? No. I simply said we don't get a lot of support from our alumni. The football team, baseball team, whatever team are understaffed. Thus making normal operations very difficult. It is really tough when money is short. Coaches cant hire assistants such as video guys, equipment guys or buy new equipment. And why point the blame at students. We support the program through tuition. The problem is not that students don't show up, anyone who is from Miami knows the locals only come out of their holes when a team is winning. BTW I go to every game I can, and so do my friends and their friends too. This school has support from their student body, but another problem is that last year no football games were on campus. Limiting the amount of people that could end up taking the bus-shuttles to the OB. Now I have only been at FIU for 1 scholastic year, but I would bet that 500-600 students went to games at the OB this year. I think that number will rise once the on-campus stadium is finished. And when we get more people living on-campus. Our teams need some deep pocketed boosters and the everyday FIU alum alike to come together and put their stake in the athletics program. If you want to see this school and athletics program grow, you should know that having a successful football program is an important part to that. Need examples? Ohio State= great school, rich football tradition. UCG=good school, good football tradition. UF= great school, great athletics program. U Texas= great school, great football program. I am not saying that each respective school's football program made that school great, but it certainly propelled their growth further by giving them exposure and extra revenue.

Did I say that the alumni on this site don't support FIU athletics? No. You are right, you didn't say those exact words. You said "alumni" and made no exceptions, and that includes those on this board.
You should not make blanket statements as you did in your post.
Besides, you are wrong. Until recently, FIU has not been doing a good job of reaching out. Alumni have never been contacted as much as they are now. Athletics became a priority only recently. You wouldn't know about that, you only have one scholastic year under your belt.
If I am wrong, I really don't care anymore. I do my part. I buy my season tickets for the football program. I will attend all the games, even though my seats suck, and believe me, they suck. I just don't want someone who has been here one year telling me that I am the problem because I don't dish out thousands of dollars when I can't even afford to live in Miami on my own. So thanks for your opinion, as The Critic used to say "it stinks!"

Wow if you can't draw your own conclusions as to who I was talking about after my second statement then maybe I'll clear it up one more time. The alumni who criticize FIU athletics without doing anything to help the program.
And stop moping, I didn't say "donate thousands", I said put a stake in the program, OF ANY KIND. But if you bought your tickets you did more than what probably 70% of our alums have done. I dunno what the school does to try and gain support from the alumni, but as an alum I am sure you had an idea of what you could do to help.
We all want the same thing, to see FIU sports prosper. I am simply saying that alumni that already support the athletics program should be ambassadors for the school and seek out those who are supporters of the athletics but want to become more involved.
Oh and if your seats "suck", maybe you should call someone in the ticket office and see what you can do to change that. it isn't like you're going to have any sight line infractions, so they couldn't suck that bad.

d**n man this fight takes on a new meaning to old school vs. new school lol from the pictures ive seen the "worst seats" didnt even look that bad so lets all just cool down lol lets and posterchild its great that you and your friends are getting into it. thats what needs to happen i remember getting into FIU and i wasnt willing to go support FIU cause i was still a UM fan. but now that the FIU is starting to put more emphasis on their athletics they start to pull more support from students. and i know that we need to get more alum involved. however, i think we need to get the students more involved first and thats where it will stem from

I bet that is 250 dollars more than most alums give to the school. Again I realize those alumni who support this site are probably the same one who do support the team, I just am saying that a successful program begins with the donations from alumni. Thus we need even more alumni to step up.
This is no personal attack, it is more of a call to action.

Come on. "Postchild", was not referring to the ones on this board. The problem is with the current students AND the alumni, not the ones here but everyone else.
The only supporters of this school is mostly on this board. Do you guys/gals not realize how many current students we have and how many alumni we have? Most current students do not even know FIU has any sports teams and academically speaking this school was most likely not their first choice or they just came here because its close to home. So they do not take pride in either the sports or how the school is doing academically. They come to class and go home.
Now, all the alumni we have FIU should have no problem receiving money, but again the FIU alumni simply do not care about this university. So they got their diploma from here, so what? Thats there mindset. These alumni (again, not the ones on this board) are walking around wearing colors from any other school but the ones they graduated from which is FIU.
